Hi there! My name is May, I'm 28 years old, and my pronouns are they/them. Welcome to my blog.
You should probably read my about page, but in a nutshell, this blog is where I chill and draw stupid shit, as well as reblog a lot of art and space and stuff. I strive to keep this blog safe for minors. Any mature content I post or reblog would be in the form of nonsexual artistic nudity, cartoon violence (I don't do gore), and educational content.
General rule of thumb, I don't tolerate exclusionary or hateful rhetoric of any kind. If I reblog content that contains hateful speech or dogwhistles, or is created in bad faith by a TERF/Neonazi/Exclusionist, please let me know.
I do draw a lot here, and while I usually tag for characters I do not have an art tag. Sorry. If you need me to tag something, let me know!
Thanks for reading this, enjoy your stay, and have a great day.

if you're willing to share, which master did send the tailor after veils?
whaaaaat a GOOD question :) I had hoped ppl would guess but I also don't mind at all answering, if you are okay with me being a little dramatic abt it.
the tailor thinks it's got to be Fires. how much of that is the grudge it's hard to say (probably a lot) but Fires would probably stand to gain a lot from it. that said....
who is the Master that Veils would most underestimate? that everyone would most underestimate? who would want to win?
who is the one I've confirmed in the Tailor's canon?
who frequents their shop? who went to their shop the day it opened? just before all the troubles began with assassins and with resources?
who is their confidante? who told them to set aside the shop, take a break, and step away from all the other things that were troubling them, to the point that the Tailor began to isolate from their friends so they might focus on the hunt?

freak4freak is always so awesome but another character dynamic that i think is really great is freak vs freak. you're the only person who understands me and i'm the only person who understands you. unfortunately this also does not stop either of us from hating each other and in fact it might even make everything significantly worse for everyone involved
i actively need to make sure the intriguer is reasonably in character for what it used to be but the problem is this thing's lived rent free in my head for the better part of two years and been trying to evolve in itself that entire time

I am thinking again about Mr Veils in the kickstarter patron story referring to “the vile business with the Third City Priest Kings” and I am thinking about how the Third City was around for the shortest amount of time and I am thinking about the Veils Wing of the Royal Bethlehem.
Veils of the Third City may argue that it saw the beauty of the Bargain and Mr Veils may have an appreciation for the slaughter but on the whole, near everything about the City was rotten. At the very least everything about the Priest Kings and their followers were rotten and the effects would last well into the Fourth City.
And I know that the Masters were eager to get out of the Second City considering their confinement and would have taken anything and the Priest Kings came to THEM so it was a deal they jumped at. It walked into their hands. But man, considering the cost and considering the results. Considering that to this day the Masters are dealing with the consequences and the damage control.
These creatures are too prideful to admit that they regret. But they made their own lives harder for very little.
still thinking abt this. I am thinking of the Veils Wing and the entire story of the Fidgeting Writer. i am trying and failing to think up another example of any of the Masters having to take active responsibility for the consequences of their actions. (we can glance at the stuff with the Creditor, but that in the end wasn't beset by them and it isn't in the end RESOLVED by them, it's shunted to you).
there's an argument to be made that they're just throwing money at it to make the problem go away, I guess you could say that's what's happening with the Veils wing at the Royal Bethlehem. it isn't an active role and it's pretty throwaway, easy to miss story.
but on the whole, both the Masters and the Bazaar generally don't deal with consequences directly. it's a statement of power, they're the ones with it and the Bazaar for its part tends to have unawareness and when it IS made aware (gestures at Creditor), sure, it will deal with it but (and this is my POV) the shame it feels ends up nearly performative. not that it doesn't actively feel that shame but it's. it is not exactly accomplishing a lot. this is not taking into account any of the other things it won't really take responsibility for. of which there are Several.
someone else always has to handle it. the little people always have to handle it. so the fact that a Master has to be directly namedropped regarding dealing with the lasting consequences of the Priest-Kings after they directly caused the downfall of the Fourth City feels pretty impressive to me. It is DIRECTLY fucking with their ability to complete the Bazaar's mission.
it can arguably be considered the worst choice the Masters made. I just think that's interesting.
if you're still doing these, 1 and 12 for our favourite conjurer :3?
Yeah I'm definitely still ironing out some Conjurer stuff so this is a little vague and possibly privy to change still but I've had kind of a feel for this for a bit. If you'll accept some vagueness in the answers I appreciate it <3 it's not that I'm hiding things it's that I don't fully know yet! they wont tell meeeeeee.
Where was your OC born, and where did they grow up?
The Conjurer is from somewhere in Wales. I think I was looking at Cardiff? Which was a big mining town in the mid 1800s. (a lot of Wales was used for mining exports in the mid 1800s tbh). I'm fairly certain they spent most to all of their lift there before heading to London, but! I could be wrong. They might have had some connection to the Great Game before they came to London. It's not clear yet. They already weren't terribly young when they finally arrived in the Neath.
12. What is the worst thing that has happened to your OC? How has it affected their behavior, their health, and their life in general?
I do think there was some sort of major accident they experienced, though I'm not yet sure what, that left them some kind of disabled before they came to the Neath. I think it was enough to leave them with serious feelings about death, disability, power and dis-empowerment of the disabled, and generally a lot of anger they ended up using for their ambition in the Neath. (wow, anger and spite driving ambition? don't tell me I have a theme!!!)
Whatever it was, part of the reason they chose Power is to undo whatever damage their body experienced and to make sure they are never that weak ever again, and that nobody treats them like such an invalid every again. They could have chosen Time, but they didn't want time for London, they don't CARE about London. They want to never, ever, ever feel so fragile and demeaned.
There's details to iron out here for sure. the shape's still blurry and the injury is still unknown though I love to project my own hip issues onto my OCs. I DO think the cane they have is probably related, tho mostly for show these days. but yeah i think whatever it was rippled out and affected everything else, just for how life changed after whatever the Incident was.
Hello hello I bring inquiries for the OC ask game! Regarding the Tailor v
4. Describe three of the most important photographs your OC owns.
5.What is your OC's gender identity and sexual orientation? Is this also what they identify as in canon, or are they not (fully) aware?
And while I know the Veiled Intriguer is technically canon to FL you seem to have OC-ified it to quite the degree (which delights me), so if I could I'd like to ask this for your interpretation of it v

4. Describe three of the most important photographs your OC owns.
Photographs.... The Tailor doesn't have many of those! But a friend was kind enough to get a collection of photos from when they and a bunch of friends went to Mutton Island for Fruits of the Zee. I'm checking the pictures now.... aw... I forgot they went kite-flying. That's probably the Tailor's favorite of the bunch. They showed several people how to do it and used a special little whistle to call on the wind.
There's also a good one of them all around a bonfire, telling stories. It's a rough one because of the lighting from the fire, but it's still a nice memory.
Do they have more beyond these.... They might have a couple from when they got the shop open. Despite all the extra circumstances around it, the Tailor is really very proud of their shop. I can imagine a photo for a newspaper that they ended up keeping a clipping of for themself.
5. What is your OC's gender identity and sexual orientation? Is this also what they identify as in canon, or are they not (fully) aware?
While the Tailor would not use the language of a modern individual to describe themself, they're masc-presenting agender and some scale of demiaro demiace. They know how they feel about the subjects, they just don't have our terms for it, obviously.
If the Tailor were to describe their feelings on gender, it's that they would prefer to be confused for a man if they had to be identified at all, because while London is better about women, it still doesn't always seem like an equal playing field. Growing up the Tailor was expected by adults to look and behave a certain way because of the sex they were assigned and it was not very freeing. When they ran from that orphanage and cut their own hair and started being unidentifiable, life was much better in their view. (Fun fact, the Tailor as a kid used he/she/it interchangeably).
They feel more comfortable when they look 'masculine', though they don't have a problem with their body itself. Everyone else seems to have the problem with their body. They just want to look nice and feel they look nice and are treated better when they look masc. As I like to joke, they are the cutest they/them boy around.
Feelings on sexual orientation are complicated. They certainly don't become attracted to others easily, though they don't mind sex and can find it fun. For a long time sex was a means to an end, another way to simply get an edge (gestures at MYN Persuasive and all the seducing you do), and the Tailor didn't particularly feel one way or another about it.
When they did finally partake a little for fun, it was only with friends, anyway. They don't really have a draw to individuals, they appreciate aesthetics (of course they do, they've an artist's eye) but it's not much more than that.
They've got a DRIVE, maybe. They're kind of weird about hunting. And the Naturalist happened. And don't get me started on whatever's up with the Intriguer. They don't fuckin know. i WILL note when they HAVE decided to sleep with people, those people tend to be masc presenting usually. So. shrugs?
As for the Evil Bat itself, yeah that thang's OC-ifed as SHIT, I only have so much Veils content to work with lmao. I fully expect a lot of people to not even Know that it's the Evil Bat. it's probably better for me if that's the case. I've only really seen one other person ever write it and my interpretation sure is not the same.
Anyway
21. How does your OC handle criticism?
I wouldn't recommend criticizing a guy who used to be Jeff the Killer and is actively planning World War 1. Just uh. Just a hunch. It will smile and it will take it in good stride and you'll be dead within 3 months and nobody will ever be able to trace the death back to it.
and yeah i'm still laughing about yin bullying it last night <3
