You've been through a lot recently…

this post is about them being depicted as not looking baby smooth for the majority of their lives. it's about them being allowed to have crow's feet at an age that many consider young but is in truth a fairly normal age to have them.

aging is fine and perfectly normal even if it does not happen as a result of laughter or smiling. you can get crow's feet for reasons other than happiness, especially because the skin around the eyes is delicate. that's normal and fine.

I understand wanting to romanticize wrinkles by associating as many as possible with happiness, but the truth is, many wrinkles will not be a result of that. that's fine. crow's feet that come about through sun exposure or drawing your eyebrows together in perpetual confusion at your coworkers are just as normal and valid as any other.

sure, many people's crow's feet come about after years of happiness and laughter. but, that wasn't the point of the post, really. I was appreciating that they're allowed to have any at all, whether they came about through happiness, tragedy, or the completely neutral circumstances of living. accepting that aging is normal and natural applies to the wrinkles that aren't happy too.
