yes i do ship those characters but i ship them in an infinitely more aroace way than you will ever be able to comprehend

Writers have two modes and they are "i haven't written in three weeks and i am rotting from the inside and everything feels wrong and i don't know who i am anymore" and "i wrote for four hours straight and forgot to eat and it's dark outside and when did that happen and i feel like a god" and there is nothing in between. no chill. no medium setting. just famine or feast and a very confused nervous system.

huge fan of when characters love each other and are closely bonded in an explicitly nonromantic way. however ☝️ i am very much not a huge fan of what happens when characters like this are introduced to fandom

i say this probably once a month but mensah & murderbot's friendship is just soooo good. like mensah as the first to ever recognize mb as a person & mb as one of the first to really immediately get her. mb always dedicating a couple cameras to watching her because they make each other feel safe. mensah trusting mb more than anyone in the system. that scene where mensah's ranting about work & mb's just sitting on her desk swinging its legs. how mb is touch repulsed because it associates contact with violence & yet it's constantly hugging & holding her hand. how it realizes it wants to stay with ART & all it can say to mensah is "i don't want to not see you again" because the emotion is just too overwhelming. of course it can live without her but it never wants to. "do you love her" "not in the way you think" because it isn't about devotion it isn't about gratefulness & it isn't about pity it's about how at the end of the world they understood each other & they've never stopped. LIKE IT'S SOOOOOO GOOD

big fan of characters with abandonment + attachment issues so profound that they leave claw marks in everything they touch but would sooner gnaw off their own leg than admit they just want someone to stay for once. in a totally normal well adjusted and not at all projecting way of course.
