CHARACTER SUMMARY:
[tw: transphobia]
Quirrell doesn’t remember much of his early life. There are plenty of pictures but none of them are of him. They are before he had things figured out. They are of a little girl who didn’t feel comfortable in her body and he prefers not to remember that.Â
Quirrell found the name Quirinus in a book and loved the way the character made him feel. He was strong, everyone liked him, and most importantly he wasn’t scared of anything. Quirrell was scared of just about everything and hoped embodying his favorite character would help. In a small way it did but turns out anxiety can’t be fixed from a name change.Â
He came out to his parents his fourth year. It didn’t go over well. In fact it went terribly. His parents outright denied it, refused to play along in his “game” and ignored it all together. They wouldn’t let him cut his hair, wouldn’t let him dress how he wanted, and only referred to him as their daughter.Â
At school he dressed in the boys uniform after much begging and pleading. He had a few friends that knew but for the most part people had no idea at all. It wasn’t easy but he tried his best to just push through.Â
As soon as school ended he left home and made the changes that felt right. The long hair was gone, he changed his name, he got himself clothing that felt right, and got himself a job in the best place in the world. A bookstore.Â
It was pretty easy to ignore the war when he tucked himself away into the store, avoiding everything. He wasn’t much of a fighter after all, he seeked knowledge after all. He wanted to learn so much and so he did. From a safe distance of war that is.Â
He’s been living as Quirinus for three years now and while the war is over he can’t help but feel like there is more to it. Could just be anxiety, at least that is what he keeps telling himself.Â
To help keep his mind off of it though, he’s found some false confidence in hookups and pretending he knows what he’s doing. He’s weirdly good at it, but too bad the confidence doesn’t stay forever.
