We are thinking about starting a Richie/Eddie bigbang this year, with sign-ups beginning in December. Before we make any firm plans (or even make the schedule!), we wanted to gauge the interest of the fandom and get some feedback on things like the minimum requirement, schedule length, and so on.

For those of you who may not have heard of them, bigbangs are fandom events meant to inspire creative output for fanfic authors and fan artists. The usual set-up is that fanfic authors will write a fic that goes over a set minimum (anywhere from 5k to 25k) over a scheduled span of time. During the writing period, artists will be able to pick stories that they want to work on and get paired up with fanfic authors. By the end of the bang, there’s a bunch of new fic and art for everyone to enjoy! There are also reversebangs, where artists create artwork first and fanfic authors write fic based on the created art - if anyone would be more interested in that kind of set-up, we’d be happy to do that instead, too!

But I personally think this would took A LOT of things from Richie’s, but mostly Eddie’s, characterization.

Like, the internal homophobia who is very important in Eddie’s character.

I never seen someone put this out, but I think is very important to remember what Eddie saw at the baseball field. I mean guys, G U Y S, he thought about Patrick, and admitted he doesn’t want to think about him because Beverly saw he and Henry Bowers made “bad things together” and he wanted to see his wife right now.

He’s forty.

He’s an adult, a married man.

Who said to need his wife, who he never tought about neither when he was fucking dying, because he knew there were two boys who have jerked off each other.

And then, when Pennywise arrived, what the fuck the clown said to him?

If he wanted a blowjob. (again, because 11 y/o Eddie was afraid of that too)

If Reddie was canon in the film, Eddie would have accepted this part of himself.

But he can’t yet.

He accepted himself, what he always had felt, only in the last seconds of his life, only in that moment, when he was looking at Richie crying, he taught that maybe it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t bad at all.

Only in that moment he licked his lips, and give his really last words to the person who needed them the most, the one who isn’t capable to say anything because, fuck, Eddie is dying, is not a risk, is a fact, they can’t get out of this, they can’t do anything.

Eds is going away forever.

“Richie, you know I… I…”

And, while he was thinking how to continue, he died.

And then, there are people who wants with all they heart to see Richie taking out of the sewer Eddie’s body, like in the miniserie.

But, I’ll tell you this fellas, if I need to sacrifice Richie’s anger and sorrow, Richie’s tears and swears to Bill and all the other, when he remained the only one who just can’t let Eddie all alone in the dark, because he would hated it, even if he would need to risk his life for a person who is already dead.

If I need to sacrifice Richie’s part of the story for giving Eddie a grave no one would never go to visit…

Then I don’t want to.

Because Reddie is a thing in the book, even if they’re not a “Canon relationship”, even if in Eddie’s wiki he is still married to Myra Kaspbrak, when he said himself he knew he only married his mom, they have a beautiful relationship, a romantic relationship from what I read, but I don’t need a kiss to prove that they do loved each other, because Reddie isn’t the goofy ship we love in the fanon, is a sad story, about two men who loved, got lost, loved again and got lost forever.

Stephen give us the saddest possibility of the two, but he gave us one which really showed us who they were and I want to see it, because I fell for this Loser Club.

"Guess we are both lost huh buddy?"

"Isn't that right Eddie?... Yeah."

Richie runs into a cat who's missing one eye after having a breakdown and decides to name it Eddie. After his first love, he tells himself "...at least I can save one Eddie."
