Python's Custom Cards

My take on an Angel’s Grace type card. Forgot to change it to uncommon/rare, so don’t skewer me over that little mistake. I decided to give it a Platinum Emperion-type effect, so you can’t just cast this, lose two life, and then start slamming back Big Grizz’s Necro-Ale like its nobody’s business. This will also turn off fetchlands, since you can’t pay life. Basically, its a weird Orzhov-flavored fog that can also stop combo kills from a Purphoros or Torment of Hailfire. 

My take on a second Koth. He can work very well in a red control deck, as he gives you extra mana, and his ultimate will be completely devastating. I originally made him cost RRRR, but then i decided that that was probably a bit too restrictive, and would make whatever mono-red aggro deck popped up in the format too strong. 

To me, it seemed like Koth was more focused on mountain-based effects than anything else, so i tried to keep that as his theme when making this card. Not quite sure if the -4 is something which should ever be done, and green will likely get the effect first, but i believe it can be in red for 2 reasons.

1. Red does get probably the greatest amount of noncreature tokens, what with Goblin Kaboomist and Brass’s Bounty. These mountain tokens are rituals in the sense that, should anything be done to them, they are gone forever. Plus, 5 mana for 2 mountains isn’t a very good deal.

2. Red does have a lot of mountains matter cards. Cards like Charbelcher, Awaken the Ancients, Valakut, etc, all like you having mountains. Creating mountains is within both Koth’s skillset, and are a red-flavored thing to do (Artificers).

And older card of mine, as seen by having the 8th edition frame. I have my old computer with me, so i am going through my older stuff. Expect to see more! Also, Happy Easter/April Fools/Passover!

Not sure about this. The name was actually harder than the abilities, since once i got the name i made the card around those (Steam being the first and snow being the second)

So, Those Future Sight lands i was talking about a little while ago? Here they are! My favorites are Steaming Cenote and Mangrove Bog. (Also, i know the art isn’t an actual cenote, but i couldn’t find any pictures online) It was a bit difficult to find 5 different effects, but i think it ended up pretty good.

You know Didgeridoo, that one minotaur card that is basically a tribal Aether Vial? I made more for some more tribes! They are all instruments, and instruments that the respective tribe could maybe use (Except the Hydrophone, but who knows!)

I got Snowed in last week. Not too fun, considering I then had to shovel all day just to keep the driveway usable. But it did remind me of my favorite maybe-plane of Kaldheim (After, like, Pyrulea because Dyson spheres are sick).

With that tangent aside, i decided i wanted to make the land version of Skybreen. Given that it is a massive Snowy mountain, i made it... a snowy mountain. Real original. But it does interact with Snow mana in an interesting way, letting you deal up to 9 damage if you know turn timing correctly (Mana empties at the end of each step, there are 9 steps that aren’t cleanup, meaning up to 9 damage to creatures in 1 turn if you can produce 9 snow mana) This may seem like a lot, but you are pretty much casting a very slow pyroclasm. Plus, if you are spending 9 mana each turn, you are probably either winning by a mile, or you are very far behind anyways. Plus, you need to know when to tap your mana. Untap and upkeep may seem safe, but you don’t know what you will draw afterwards. Main Phases can be dangerous as you are letting your shields down, etc.

A White control thing. Perfect for restricting burn/aggro decks... if you can make it to cast this. It takes 3 mana to lock down 1 power guys, so there’s that. This is kinda like the creature-centric Chalice of the Void. Only not an amazing card that warps formats. Also, should be a rare, but i tend to forget to change the rarity symbol when i mass design stuff.

In a graveyard, set, change Exile to Destroy and Artifacts in Exile to in graveyards, and this could probably be printed today. But the Exile is the thing that makes it different. Red can kinda exile, but that is much more the place of damaging creatures to the point of exile, and otherwise it is a mostly white thing.

Ahh Traps. Such a fun mechanic, that they should go back to one day. I decided to make this not have a casting cost so that the fact it is a trap is very important. Red also needs more extra turn cards, and this seems to fit thematically.

With Battlebond coming up, i expect 2 things.

1. A reprint of Imperial Mask. This card was literally made for this set. Or maybe the other way around. But, nonetheless, i expect the mask to make an appearance.

2. Cards somewhat like this. Maybe not this exactly, as this is basically “2 mana gain 10 life” (though Feed the Clan and Life Goes On are pretty close imo). But something like this. 

Also maybe the return of the support mechanic, and perhaps allies? These are more wild guesses than actual predictions, but that is half the fun of magic for me. (If you were wondering, the other half is deckbuilding) Should i make some more teammate cards, or stick to what i was doing before?

The people have spoken! Ultimatums it is! Some of these i feel are a bit powerful, while others i feel are a bit weak, but overall i think these are pretty good designs. The hardest ones were Enlightened and Barbaric because i didn’t want to make something completely broken, but i still wanted to capture the three colors of mana well. Barbaric was originally super wordy and complicated, and then i realized i could just say “Make 20 power and toughness” and i would get the same point across. As a note, Army of the Damned costs 1 more mana for 3 more creatures, in 1 color, with flashback. So i don’t think 10 2/2s is all that busted.

Pretty self explanatory. I always believe it is important to be able to make commons, so simple things that aren’t all too powerful. Future sight kinda throws that out the window, but this is pretty simple for a mechanic you could see in the “future”

Unlike Soulfire Grandmaster, Deathtouch isn’t great on instants/sorceries. This card is dedicated to one of my all time favorites, Sedge Scorpion. Thanks for killing all those giant Bestow monsters Circa Theros block, buddy.

We need more Elemental blasts. 

I made the red only able to do red things (destruction, yes i know this still hits enchantments, but it is very limited, so... yeah). The blue is only able to do a blue thing. Also, it can work well with tax effects like Thalia, letting you counter a red spell and destroy a blue permanent. Perfect for Modern Mirror matches!
