Putridum Soli

Hello, and welcome to the official blog of Putridum Soli, a dark fantasy indie webcomic! This project has been in development for over a year now, and we're excited to officially announce it for everyone to see! You'll see more updates throughout the year, including comic pages of our first issue! For fans of Berserk, Drakengard, Nier Replicant, Fear and Hunger, Final Fantasy and Lunar, this comic is for you!

Check out our favourite girl coming in and showing love at the nick of time! (I wish I posted this way earlier, but life got in the way and winter depression has been kicking my butt LOL) Anyways, here's Laya in the bisexual colours. I think she looks lovely and cute, but I've been told many times she also looks like Kris from Deltarune. I hope they're also bisexual too, I've only played up till spamton when that came out, and I don't remember it very well,,, I hope you like the art :3 and don't forget trans rights are human rights

Laya has always idolized Ellanna, perhaps a bit too much. Despite how much stronger she's gotten, is her mind what's holding her back from reaching her full potential? Make sure to keep rooting for our Vice Captain as her journey goes on!

The cover for issue 1 is coming along smoothly, so here's a sneak peek of Laya in all her colorful glory! And if you think it's pretty now, just wait until you see the stained glass behind her in full color!

I wish I got to show you a more cleaned up version of the cover inks, but I got busy (as usual) with work, lol. Hopefully this week the inks and flats are finished for the cover! See you next week!

Man, this piece was supposed to be due last week, but I got kidnapped (lovingly) by my family that I haven't seen in nearly a decade (wow) so this was made a lot later than I liked. I drew it all in the very last second too, I was so so so panicked!! I think there's a few things I could have done better, but I'm also still trying to teach myself that not everything I make has to be a masterpiece or my next magnum opus. Otherwise I won't get anything done at all in a timely manner. Hopefully I have something done next week for you guys, so please make sure to keep an eye out!!

Still at the pencilling phase, but still there's some good work being put in. I did all of this within the afternoon, however I've honestly been distracted with the new overwatch update.. I need to delete that game, seriously! Thank you so much for reading my little ramble, and if you could please, to share and follow my little passion project, especially if you enjoy dark fantasy. I love the story so much, and the writer is so amazingly talented as well. We have been working on this for years, and I can assure you I am willing to dedicate many more years. See you next week!

Finally, some art that shows us how the comic can really be. This was so fun to draw, so I hope you like it. The scarred woman I can definitely imagine being one of the more popular characters and will be an amazing rival for Ellanna. Ellanna really thought she was the best captain there was, but after trying to take down the scarred woman, she quickly proved Ellanna wrong. The world is a lot bigger than Ellanna thought, and the lady knows much much more than she does. There's so much I want to talk about for her, but it would be spoilers if I did so. All I can say is that she has a lot up her sleeve, and the ambiguous morals to match.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm busy again this week with work so you won't be seeing Ellanna's character sheet this week either unfortunately. However, exciting news, we will start making little ooc panels taken from parts of the story, to give you a taste of how the comic itself will be. These won't be as wholesome as the comic strips as the comic still is a dark fantasy, and so you may see some gruesome things. Of course there will be trigger warnings when needed, so don't worry about being jumpscared by anything!

Sorry for the delay on Ellanna's character design sheet! I've been a pretty busy bee. Have had a lot of work on my plate lately with other things.. So I hope this comic strip will sate your hunger until then!

First of all, thanks again for taking an interest in our project and sharing it around! We're glad that your friend is so excited that they share Laya's name. Our writer actually got the name from the video game Phantasy Star III, which featured a pair of twins named Laya (seriously, they both had the same name). Since our Laya is also a twin, it seemed fitting. Hope you and your friends can look forward to seeing more of her!

Hopefully we get our money back somehow..

Anyways, I really hope you're excited to see more of Ellanna! She's a very important character who appears quite frequently in the story, and I love her personality. I think you'll all be really interested to see how her story starts and ends. I'm aiming to get her design sheet finished next week hopefully, and I want to make more art for her too.

We have been getting so many lovely compliments on our progress so far as well, and seeing all this faith on our project really really warms my heart. We're obviously quite early in development, but we have everything planned out. I know what to work on and what comes next. In fact, next you will be seeing our Captain, Ellanna! She's very cool, and I'm sure you all want to see someone other than Laya right now as well. You might be seeing some sketches for a week or two, since I have a lot of extra work I need to do. But once I'm out of this particular patch, I should be able to devote the amount of time to the webcomic as I'd like to. What follower count should we aim for next? Do you think thirty is possible before the end of february? I think so, so I'll be working towards that next! See you again next week!
