i think regardless of your opinion on boundary discourse, boomie's post accusing fans of rape, pedophilia, abuse, and stalking is unacceptable behavior from any media professional. if this were to get anymore attention from mcyt fans and it were to damage the reputation of anyone willing to go to court about it, it could end up REALLY bad for his reputation and career as a streamer in the long run.

sorry, im still thinking about the whole situation a little. i mightve already posted something like this the last time a big "boundaries" scandal happened, but i wanna say again just How Much i dont Understand Why this only seems to be a problem with newgen mcyters.

even back in dsmp this wasnt much of a problem at all, everyone just shipped basically whoever they wanted. you dont see this stuff happening in oldgen mcyter fandoms like hermitcraft/life series or whatever. back then if two mcyters were shipped theyd JOKE about it and lean into it for fun!! Because they understood that it WAS just for fun and didnt take it too seriously!!!!!!

i think the problem is that newgen mcyters nowadays dont know how to appropriately separate themselves from their youtuber personas nor can they distance themselves from their audience (i dont mean that they should ignore all their fans, but i mean they shouldnt let themselves go as far as actively interacting with them directly either).

its become so much easier to have Access to these content creators and for Them to have access to their fans that the line between fan and content creator sometimes blurs, especially considering newgen independent mcyters are very young and probably a lot closer to their fans in age than youd think. they treat these fans like "friends" and treat drama relating to them as internal personal discourse rather than a problem between creator and audience.

this lack of separation causes them to take everything pertaining to them Way too seriously and Personally. they lack the experience and skills to handle these things professionally and adequately and it is really really apparent. Because What do you mean youre calling a whole subsection of your fans pedophile abuser rapists just because they make art of you that you dont approve of??? Those fans are probably like 14 Are You Hearing Yourself

it is normal for a fan (especially younger ones, which makes up the majority of them in this fandom) to consume your content and only see you as how you present yourself as a content creator, not actually how you are as a Person. they view you as entertainment because thats exactly what you present yourself as and how your content is meant to be consumed. your fans are then taking your content, and that Presentation of you by extension, into consideration and bending and twisting it as they like in their mind. Because thats just another way of engaging in that entertainment!!!! it has nothing to do with You as the Actual Person directly (note i am only talking about shippers who only create fiction, not actual weirdos who go out of their way to stalk/dox/harass content creators, which are a whole separate species). Get your head out of your ass!!!
