Yes Gnomeo and Juliet is a horny ass movie with a lot of sexual innuendos but we gotta give them props for not sexualizing the female characters especially the female lead

#gnomeo and juliet #the only examples I can think of are the American beauty reference w Nanette but I wouldn’t call that sexualization tbh?#like idk as a kid I didn’t feel uncomfy w that but that’s just me #and maybe Dolly gnome but like idk she just has big boobs and a crop top and it’s not like over the top with it she just kinda exists lol #plus she slays #if anything the male characters are far more sexualized which is kinda..unusual for a kids movie??#maybe not ‘unusual’ but def less common especially for an older movie #not rlly saying that it’s a good thing the male characters are sexualized ofc #but it’s just a slightly nicer change of pace from the constant sexualization/fetishization of women in media #I also appreciate that nothing overly weird/sexual happens between Gnomeo and Juliet for jokes #like yes there’s a bit of ‘tension’ you notice more when you watch it as an adult #but their love for each other is still pure and wholesome #the almost kisses weren’t like approached weirdly it was just like ‘haha they almost kissed but their heads are stuck in the fence!!’#anyway enough rambling
