Hiii guys and etceteras and welcome to my blog for my hazbin hotel rewrite named Purgatory Hotel
Purgatory hotel is a rewrite using the comic medium. Charlie was born in Hell, but was raised in Heaven for most of her life. As a result, she is very naive and fairly ignorant about Hell, and believes that anyone can be redeemed with friendship and understanding. And, of course, with her Magnum Opus: The Happy Hotel.
Heaven's court is so offended and outraged by her idea that she is sent to Hell, with no preparation or help... until a kindly sinner takes her under his wing.

I wouldn't say this is a spite project because, regardless of my own opinion on Vivziepop, I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of just being nasty to her. I just watched the show and I really like Keith David and now it's made a new wrinkle in my brain.
I don't consider myself to be an "anti" of the show, though I do have my own complaints with it. Fans of Hazbin and Helluva are fine to interact with, obviously just be nice and I'll be nice back. Any complaints will be tagged with viv crit, show crit, fan crit, or critception if I'm complaining about criticism, as well as a main critical tag if I feel like it. Feel free to block those tags, I understand.
The rewrite will contain triggering or upsetting themes, but I'll put any appropriate warnings at the start of a chapter. I would label it as 15+ personally but just use your own discretion.
I also have a Helluva Boss rewrite that I will post about here, since characters from that may show up in PH, and they're both in the same universe. It is called Imperfect Assassins (emphasis on imp lol)

About me: My name is Harper and I'm 21 years old. I'm from England and primarily use it, he or she pronouns, no particular preference. Aside from this rewrite I like to walk in the woods and get very tired and sore from said walking. I also like cats and creating things, including drawing of course.
Critique: Many characters in the comic come from marginalised groups, which I have researched and obviously intend to write in a respectful and accurate manner. However, I do understand that I'm not exempt from criticism and I may get some things wrong in the way I write characters, so I am always open to people expressing their concerns with me and I'm more than willing to engage and keep these things in mind so I can improve and learn. Just please don't assume bad faith and that I've done something to be nasty on purpose.
Headcanons: I can't imagine many people having headcanons for a different iteration of a pre-existing character, but they're absolutely fine and awesome, especially since stuff has changed over the past (nearly) two years since starting this rewrite. I won't be offended if your headcanons align with stuff that isn't canon anymore, nor do I mind people sharing them.
Boundaries: Asks and messages are fine, but keep in mind I'm not always great at keeping up with correspondence as I'm chronically ill, and have good days and bad days, good weeks and bad weeks. I block freely as I've found DNIs don't work in my experience. I won't put a warning for healed scars or depictions of people with body and/or facial differences (missing eyes heavy scarring etc etc) and I'd appreciate it if people did the same when reblogging. However, I will put a warning if I am discussing how a character got a scar if it could be triggering. The same applies to discussions of physical or mental illness: I will not tag mentions of an illness but I will for in depth discussion of specific symptoms (for example I won't put a warning when I mention that a character has an eating disorder, but I will put a warning if I talk about specific things pertaining to it)

Got back on the Sinstagram fanart. Decided to go for something beach themed for the season! I had ALOT of fun with the outfits, especially for Angel(for anyone curious, the flower on his hat’s a pink spider lily). I imagine for her sinstagram Charlie likes to promote & post about community service they do!
In context to what the others are doing, I see Alastor & Baxter prepare food(keeping an eye on him so he doesn’t cause trouble again), and Sir P & Husk looking for stuff of value(money & machinery wise), with a metal detector around the beach while also cleaning(sell cans at recycling center)

What are your rewrite characters ethnics and nationalites were like?
keep in mind a few of their ethnicities (and a couple nationalities) are different from canon, it's mostly me filling in the blanks. i have put their ethnicity first and their nationality after. i put the main characters as well as some others that have specific ethnicities in mind
Alastor is Afro-Haitian and Choctaw, USA
Vaga (Vaggi) is Native Colombian but doesn't know what specific group her family is from, she has some Spanish ancestry as well, USA
Pentious is Oglala Lakota, England
Baxter is Scottish, Scotland
Husk is Afro-Jamaican, USA
Mimzy is Irish-American, USA
Angel Dust is Italian-American, USA
Cherri Bomb is British-Australian specifically with English and Welsh ancestry, Australia
Rosie is Polish and Ashkenazi Jewish, USA
Carmilla is Nahua, specifically Pipil, El Salvador
even if my comic is a rewrite of hazbin hotel, i hope people out there like it as its own thing if that makes sense. like yeah obviously it's based on this pre-existing thing, but i hope someone jumps and leaps for joy whenever they see ph, especially if they also like hazbin hotel. a few years ago i did an au comic thing for a different piece of media, and i still think about the time someone told me that they got excited whenever i posted an update and that they talked to their friends about it

irt my last reblog. dude it was so refreshing to hear someone say that lol. i hope i didn't waffle on too much but againnn don't be afraid to let me know if i do or say something that comes across bad or weird because i can assure you it's not my intention, but regardless of intention the impact is what matters more. and there's few things more nervewracking and irritating than someone who you can't talk to about these things casually

i think from chapter 2 onwards i will change alastor's font to be the same as everyone else's; the different font was just something i came up with a couple years ago to show that he spoke differently to everyone else, but i want that to show in the words he says rather than the style of text

nothingggg much to show i've been in the black lodge (ie unwell) for a while and now the arm is saying that i should post something. so here is an old drawing of pentiousy-wentiousy when he was alive. my heart shatters every time i draw him with short hair bc his hair being long is important to him
not superrr accurate i dont think maybe..? glasses and skin tone are decent but i need to redraw his body type i think. again my soul weeps and claws at my ribcage at him having short hair. his name is paytah now not pendleton, but he has gone by several name throughout his life. i think his birth parents wanted to name him paytah and so that's the name he officially and formally goes by in like documents and general conversation w/ friends sometimes. his name means fire so he's like "yeahhhgghh that's so cool" even though he'd probably be kind of awful at barbecuing and other firey things
Most of the Peas' Parents are currently unnamed unfortunately, but there are some with names hashtag yippee. Pentious' birth mom is called Winona, Husk's dad is called Patrick, and, although she's not his parent, Baxter's gran is called Elspeth
