i love love love when kylo has a fucked up backstory. not when it's the focal point of the story, but it's part of who he is. it can be having fucked a teacher/mentor, been in a cult, inpatient, grooming, horrible accident, etc. and he's self-aware enough to know the thing was fucked up, but he hasn't quite unpacked the impact the event(s) has had on his life and his behaviour, so it hangs as this ominous thing in the background
