Sharp nails suddenly began to dig into Samâs arms and he grit his teeth, the dull pain shooting up into his shoulders. âLet go, sweetheart. Before you do something you regret.â The hunter wasnât afraid to defend himself if Lovell drew first blood. Given his rather extensive training and the pupâs lack of powers, heâd drop this poor kid in an instant. It wasnât the first time heâd heard a supernatural creature drone on and on about how useless and stupid humans were. Regardless of how the speech went, they always made Sam laugh. Nothing was funnier than a sad monologue from a creature who thought themselves superior. Had Lovell actually gotten to know him, he would have realized Sam more or less agreed with him. Hell, heâd fallen in love with a wolf.
âWhat does that make you all then, hmm?â His patience was wearing thin and Lovell was going to lose another tooth if he wasnât careful. âHumans arenât the ones who created this fucked up place.âÂ
âThe only thing in life I regret is trusting humans,â he spat. It wasnât like Lovell was like the other supernaturals. When he was young, heâd been fascinated with the humans -- heâd enjoyed what seemed to be a peaceful way of life. It was different from the more primitive nature of the wolves, and heâd even sacrificed being with his pack in order to stay with the humans and integrate in their society. Until heâd screwed up and revealed what he was.Â
âAll of us? I didnât make this island. Hell, wolves didnât even create this island,â he snapped. âBesides, are humans really that innocent? Is every country in the world pure and peaceful?â
