A candle flickers in front of him, waving the shadows of the quill back and forth in a dance. He's been drafting this section for hours, since every time he thinks he's finished he finds a better way to defend his argument. In the midst of a new rebuttal, his stomach growls. Food was brought to him recently, he's sure, and he quickly spots the tray laying precariously at the edge of the table. Instead of moving the sheets of rag paper and to make room for his meal, he stands from his chair and sits at the opposite end of the small round table. The stew smells inoffensive when he lifts it up to his mouth, yet he still wrinkles his nose. It's cold.
While perhaps not the best conversationalist around if you're not looking to get pulled into heated debates, Lovell is undeniably talented and passionate. He must be, if he's willing to sacrifice the comforts of a professional study for a humid room in a swaying ship.
Personality: Blunt, calculating, and unsurprisingly easy to rile up. He offers very little in the way of soft companionship and polite niceties, exchanging them in favor of a nearly religious fervor for knowledge.
Appearance: Long, curly ginger hair and pale skin that is completely peppered with freckles. Lovell has a very particular style that provides comfort, and that includes covering most of his skin from the sun. He's very good at dressing the part of an educated noble for a man who spends most of the year at sea.
