I bought AJ flowers every week. Whether she was in Chicago, there'd be flowers, or if she was in Tampa and I was in Chicago, in between being on the road… I would just call up a florist. I'm not saying everyday, but at least once a week. I'd never write anything on the card. 'Cause I was gonna see her in a couple days anyway. Like, what do you write? I'm not even sure we were at "I love you" yet.

I think we went out to get groceries, and I had the delivery come in. And on the card, I wrote, "Will you marry me?" We come back from getting groceries, there's the flowers, they're delivered, they just put them there. I'm probably pale... or gray... or just sweating. And we get inside, I've got these groceries, I put the groceries on the kitchen counter, and I'm just standing there [awkwardly] as she goes and gets the flowers and puts them on the counter. And then she starts putting the groceries away.

I'm like... [looking around nervously]. I'm just, like, looking at the flowers, and she turns around like, "Are you gonna help me put away the groceries?" Oh, yes, sorry. So now I'm putting the groceries away, you know? And she's not paying any mind to the flowers. Because usually there's nothing written on the card. Yeah, imagine that. Shot myself in the foot on that one.

We put the groceries away, and she's like, "Thanks for the flowers, babe." And I'm like [nodding awkwardly]. I can't describe how I was, I just had to be acting so weird. Hands in my pockets, standing really rigid, just looking at the flowers. She goes and sits on the couch and turns the TV on and she's like, "What are you doing?" And I'm just standing in the kitchen. Like a horror movie. She looks at me, and she figured something out. Enough to snatch the card and open it up.

It's been my favorite WrestleMania experience so far. Maybe my favorite match so far. Even though I lost it, I got to have my family here. For a lot of them, it was the first time ever. And what I wanted to do with that entrance was represent all the fans who have been with me from day one. Who have been wearing my outfits, my shirts, my shorts, my shoes... and skipping along with me the whole way. [...] I never got to say goodbye last time and I felt bad about that. So this is not goodbye, but I'll see you soon, I hope.
