Always outstanding while out standing in his fields. Junkenstein had found his own play on words amusing even though he neglected to share it with Hayseed. The smallest chuckle emmuting in his throat as the duo made way back to the castle. It had been short-lived as the scarecrow regaled him with what he had been up to.
ââŚThat sounds like an impressive creature.â As it had to be stronger than anything Doc knew to be common in the area. No standard fox, rabbit, crow, vole, or other pest could break through steel traps. Though since Hayseed did not further elaborate on how the creature escaped there was a chance it simply was witty enough to set the traps off without getting snared.
âI have been looking into a way to get my zomnics to reactivate previously lost omnics so I donât have to personally reactivate each one. I hit a deadend so I have put a pin in that for now to move my focus elsewhere.â Clearly he found that a worthwhile investment if he still wished to return to it. âBut I think you might find this other project Iâve been tasked to do as cool,â a small emphasis on the last word as he found the otherâs phrasing to be amusing.
Ushering Hayseed up the stairs, the door swung open slowly, seemingly on itâs own and allowing them access. The doctor not fussing with closing it as the door swung shut behind them. The entry lit up upon their entry, Docâs stride syncing up with Hayseedâs in uneven steps that alternated from clicking. His own more crisp of a clack on the hard floor with his metal peg.
âI have been working something that restore metals to their former glory. It targets rust and reverses the oxidation process. Well, not technicallyâŚâ But explaining the finer details was something to be wasted on everyone else. A disappointing thing really as the good doctor loved to explain in detail the process of his works but no one ever seemed to appreciate it. âBut perhaps we might be able to run some tests in the field. Do you have any older traps that might need restoration?â
It seems the doctor had no trouble keeping himself busy while Hayseed was away. Working hard in his lab as always! It was fascinating just how much attention went into his work. Every detail put into a single project was amazing, though there were some of the doctor's experiments that didn't quite sit well with him.
" Ah more bots huh?" There was little to hide the disdain in his voice. The Zomnics monsters were his least favorite of Junkenstein's creations. They were mindless and downright creepy at times. The scarecrow went out of his way to avoid the bots all together which proved to be a fruitless task since they were everywhere in the castle so he did his best to play nice, for the doctor's sake. Hopefully whatever pin Junkenstein found to hold up a Zomnic stayed securely in place. He practically beamed when the scientist announced his newest project would be far more interesting to him.Â
Hayseed could hardly contain his excitement as they entered the castle, frantically waving his hands in front of the door as it opened. The scarecrow 'oohd' and 'awwd' as the corridor lit up like magic. No matter how many times he'd walked through here the light show never got old. He followed the doctor closely trying not to become too distracted by the castle's fancy features as they made their way towards what he suspected was the lab. Most of what Junkenstein said had gone over his head but he was able to understand the gist of what the scientist wanted to accomplish. Use science magic to get rid of rust, now that did sound very cool!Â
" Oh more than I can count. I think I got some of the rusty screws in me pocket..." The scarecrow dug into his pockets fishing out old screws he collected from his broken traps, holding them out to the scientist. It was kind of sad just how much rusted junk he had on him. From the bolts in his arm and leg from stray screws in his pockets. It was hard enough finding time to make repairs to himself but finding the right screws to match his complicated prosthesis was down right impossible.
" Got loads of other rusty stuff back in the fields too." The place was practically covered in old rusted farming equipment, some that hadn't been touched in years after outliving their usefulness. Hayseed would have gotten rid of it all long ago if finding replacements wasn't such a hassle. His traps were his main concern though, having lost at least a dozen or so to rust in the span of a few months. If the doctor was able to bring them back to working conditions it would save the scarecrow the stress of having to make a new one from scratch, "So we can do as many tests as ya want out there! I can help with all the heavy stuff too! I-If ya want me tooâŚ" He tried not to get too carried away just in case his help was unwanted but the thought of being able to lend a hand in an important experiment was very exciting.
