Loneliness seemed to be the overarching emotion in this place, every soul gathered together and yet yearning for the life that had been taken from them. Violet was no different, silently scoffing to herself as she remarked on what a shitty afterlife this was. Heaven had been preached about so many times, how god would greet you and you’d have whatever your heart desired. In reality, Violet’s death had taken so much more than it had given.

Even though she’d only been here a short while, the girl knew all about the Corpse Bride and her story. Well, she knew what others had told her. Yet seeing the woman sitting before her as she wandered aimlessly led her to feel a little kinship. After all, they were both at their loneliest.

“Emily, right?”

Her head snapped up as the sound of her name carried on the slight breeze as she registered the young woman in front of her looking at her inquisitively:  

“ Yes ? “ Emily mumbled drily, pulling herself upright on her perch on the wall. 

Dead brides of tragic origin are 10 a-penny where she’s from and there’s very little that can convince her she’s particularly noteworthy to anyone else, living, dead, or undecided.  

Emily’s hands ghost over a stalk of dead moonflowers in her bouquet and they spring to life for the moment. 

Bricklyn Burton can’t help but be suspicious of anything she sees, it’s almost always superseded by her wonder. It was a little lonely being locked in Oogie’s casino closet all day when she wasn’t useful to him. 

If she’d ever had an inkling of jealousy, it would be for everyone allowed to roam the world freely.
