Vampire

One of the four demonic races descended from the progenitors.

They can fly, move with lightning speed, turn into bats, control familiars, have magical abilities, etc.

They drink blood. During a lunar eclipse, they become more sensitive, sentimental, prone to nostalgia, and their senses are dulled (Dark Fate).

At the time of the games, the Vampire King is Karlheinz,who has ruled for over 2,000 years (MB Sakamaki Prologue).He possesses incredible power, capable of destroying their entire world,and unique abilities: he controls time and space,can disappear,foresee the future, change appearance, and much more.

The king of each race is like a god to his people; the balance of his entire people depends on him. Unlike wolves and snakes , vampires are supposedly not such territorial demons (DF Sakamaki Prologue).

Vampire abilities

They are very sensitive to changes in the phases of the moon,and fall under its influence, and the full moon excited them.(MB Reiji Dark Epilogue)

According to Reiji, vampires always die of boredom (MB Reiji Dark Epilogue).

Awakening:"The process by which a bride completely transforms into a vampire is called 'awakening.' All the previous brides before Yui were normal humans, so their bodies couldn't survive the transformation into a vampire, making them incapable of 'awakening' and instead being turned into familiars or wax dolls. Furthermore, Yui's body was able to withstand 'awakening' because she had Cordelia's heart inside her. According to Yui, when a vampire drinks human blood, the other falls under the influence of the first and eventually turns into a vampire—this is called "awakening." Vampires heal normally without treatment (DF Azusa Dark 06) ; they are immortal and don't get sick, so they don't need doctors. However, if they are wounded by a bullet from a vampire hunter's rifle, the injury will be very serious (DF Azusa Dark Prologue) . Merz once witnessed a vampire die from such a bullet: it struck near the heart, and the wounded man simply had to wait while his body rotted—which inevitably leads to death. One of the four demon clans descended from the Progenitors . Corresponds to the race of snakes into which the Vibora can transform. The name most likely comes from the Spanish "vibora" - "viper". According to the manga Young Blood, the English spelling of their race is 'bibora'. Brai, the Demon King and Cordelia's father, was referred to as the "King of Vibora" ( DF Carla Maniac Epilogue ) . At the time of the games Dark Fate and Lost Eden, Zweig is considered the head/leader and King of the Vibora : he himself called Brai his "predecessor" (LE Shu Maniac Epilogue) . Nagas and vampires are friendly races and were in a military alliance: their relationship was built while Cordelia was married to Karlheinz (LE Subaru Dark 08).

According to Zweig, the Vibora greatly value politeness (DF Yuma Ecstasy Prologue) . Shin and Shu said that the Vibora fear Karlheinz (DF Shu Ecstasy Prologue, DF Shu Ecstasy 07) . Like the wolf , the biboras are also very territorial demons ( DF Sakamaki Prologue ) : as soon as someone enters their territory, they immediately attack the intruder (Dark Fate, Lost Eden) . Cordelia is often called the "Demon King's daughter ," and Carla referred to her as the "Vibora Princess" (LE Carla Maniac 06).

In the Lost Eden routes, the current Vibora leader, Zweig, is not averse to waging war against the vampires after Karlheinz's death: he confesses to Kino that he wants to restore their race's former dominance over the Demon World (LE Subaru Dark 09) . In LE Subaru Brute End , he became the hegemonic king of the Demon World under the control of the Church.

When the Ancestors killed Zweig, blaming Shu, the Vampire King's son, the snakes attacked Karlheinz's family castle and captured his sons (DF Shu Ecstasy 09).To appease the Vibora people, Karlheinz was forced to offer the viboras either Shu's severed head (DF Shu Brute End) or his own (DF Shu Vampire End).

Shin, judging by the Dark Fate flashbacks, frequently visited the Vibora domain, believing the entire Demon World to belong to the Ancestors. He slew any demons he encountered there, including vampires. One day, the Vibora Leader captured him and dragged him to Pandemonium, demanding an audience with King Giesbach . Before the Vibora Leader, he was forced to bend Karla's knee as an apology for his younger brother. The Leader was pleased by this spectacle, but even this wasn't enough: he wanted to take Shin's life as a "souvenir" and to maintain his authority within his clan. To save his brother, Karla offered to take only his eye. The Vibora Leader wasn't satisfied with this, but eventually "accepted" this apology as well (DF Shin Maniac Epilogue).

Carla said they were an aloof people, and "if you don't invade their territory, they won't participate in war" (DF Carla Dark 09) . The Wolf King at the time of Lost Eden is Ebert , formerly the Wolf Prince. He was mentioned as a vassal of Brai , the Demon King ( LE Shin Maniac Epilogue ) . Previously, there was talk of another leader of the race, Gottfried, who, in the form of a huge wolf, visited Karlheinz in Eden before (or during) the war with the Ancestors during the past eclipse in the Demon World: "Mr. Karlheinz and Mr. Gottfried are old friends. A drunken Zweig, the leader of the Vibora race , told Shin that his mother, Krone, had allegedly fallen in love with the wolf prince before her marriage to Giesbach and had secretly met with him with the complicity of Fersen, Tsukinami's uncle. During a reception in Eden, Karlheinz's guests heard the howling of Tsukinami's familiars and initially thought they were wolfs, but the race's representatives responded that these were definitely not their people (DF Yuma Ecstasy Epilogue).

In LE Shin Vampire End, we learn that the wolf prince and Krone's lover is named Ebert and that he is now the leader of the race. Ebert denied the possibility of his paternity, saying that his relationship with Krone was " healthy/pure " (ー ｢健全｣), although thanks to Ferzen's help in the past, he and Krone were able to "exchange feelings".

When Tsukinami was faced with the possibility of collaborating with another clan, Shin suggested wolves as ideal allies: they are responsible, protect their territory well, and their leader manages them well (LE Tsukinami Prologue).

Adler

One of the four demonic clans descended from the Progenitors. Corresponds to the eagle race, into which the Adler can transform. The race's name comes from the German word,"Der Adler " meaning "eagle."

According to Carla, the Adler cunningly wait and join the side that has the advantage (DF Carla Dark 09).

In Lost Eden, after Karlheinz's death, the eagles also participate in the struggle for the title of ruler of the entire Demon World. In Kanato's route, they attack Karlheinz's family castle and attack Kanato with arrows. In Laito's route, Ayato received news of the eagle race's advance on Eden, the spiritual stronghold of the vampire race (LE Laito Maniac Epilogue).

Ancestors｢始祖｣

Also mentioned is the name ｢ファーストブラッド｣ = [fāsutoburaddo] — literally "First Blood".

A race in the Demon World that gave rise to the other four demon races. A proud, noble clan. First mentioned in Dark Fate. Only bloodlines were permitted within the clan to preserve the purity of their bloodline. According to Carla and Shin, only the ancestress is fit to continue their lineage—such is their unwavering tradition. In the prologue of Dark Fate, this is precisely why they searched for their aunt Myone, who had escaped from their castle.

The Ancestors mentioned in the games are Carla and Shin Tsukinami, Giesbach (their father and the king of the race), Krone (Giesbach's sister and wife, Carla and Shin's mother), Mene (Krone and Giesbach's sister, Cordelia's mother), Fersen (Krone and Giesbach's younger brother), and Count Pestier. Cordelia was half an Ancestor, but didn't know it. Adam, the child Yui had with Shin in DF Ruki Brute End , is also an Ancestor.

They possess the magical abilities of all other races and can transform into wolves, eagles, snakes, and bats. Unlike vampires, they won't die easily from a chest wound. Their powers reach their peak during an eclipse. The Progenitor is stronger than any demon: both Karl and Shin surpass even Karlheinz's sons. Therefore, in the game Lost Eden, every clan sought the founders as allies.

They took part in the war against Karlheinz and Bry, were defeated and imprisoned in their castle.

Pandemonium, Palace of the Progenitors

The Castle of the Ancestors. Mythologically, the "Palace of Ten Thousand Demons" corresponds to "Pandemonium." In Milton's poem "Paradise Lost," this is the name of the capital of Hell.

The interiors of this palace are featured in the routes of the Dark Fate and Lost Eden games, as well as in the manga Young Blood vol.6-7.

After their defeat in the war with Karlheinz and Bry, the ancestors were imprisoned in this castle and almost all of them died here from the disease " Endzeit ".

Endzeit

A mysterious virus that wiped out the Ancestors. The virus was transmitted through blood, although the Ancestors believed it was airborne. The name corresponds to the German word "Endzeit" (literally "end of time"—in religious eschatology, "the period of time preceding the End of the World"). Shin called Endzeit "the disease of the end of the world."

Krone asked Karlheinz, who was already studying the virus to help them. At his request,Krone sent her younger sister Mene who was already ill...

Karlheinz tells Reiji that if he read the report on the Endzeit virus/gene in his Pharmaceutical Lab, he should understand why the current Demon World must be destroyed (Dark Fate Reiji Vampire End).

According to Karlheinz's research journal [LE Shin Maniac 08] :

Endzeit is transmitted through the blood of an infected person;

Even the smallest drop of contaminated blood is enough for infection;

Races other than the Progenitors are not affected by Endzeit;

The first symptoms of the disease (bruises) appear in the first month after infection;

Some individual differences were also recorded between those who fell ill, but overall the symptoms were the same for everyone.

Immortal ancestors infected with the virus weakened, their bodies became covered in growing bruises (strange spots), and the patients experienced symptoms similar to tuberculosis: coughing up blood and losing consciousness. The body then underwent necrosis, after which the patients—both adults and children—died. Giesbach died rather quickly and with astonishing ease after becoming infected.

Karlheinz's notes indicate that the cause of Endzeit may be "undiluted blood" (incest), but this is not detailed. [LE Shin Dark Epilogue]

The only ancestors who did not contract this disease were Shin (in the LE Shin route, it was initially assumed that his impure blood was to blame,but in VE,Yui assumed that he was simply immune to Endzit) and Cordelia.

In Dark Fate Carla Vampire End, Yui's blood was able to stop the progression of the disease, as Karlheinz stated that there was "definitely something" in her blood.

In Dark Fate Reiji Vampire End, Karlheinz called the endzeit a "genome" ｢インデツァイト遺伝子｣.

The only known way to escape the Endzeit is to change race—become a ghoul, which occurs after a prolonged stay in Rothigenberg. In the LE endings of Carla, Carla becomes a ghoul (losing all Progenitor abilities and traits) and is no longer a threat to the Endzeit.

Familiars

Shin said that unlike bats, his wolf familiars are capable of biting a person to death ( Carla vs Shin track 3 ).

Pure-blooded adherents

This was the name given to members of other races (particularly vampires) who, like the founders, adhered to the principles of purebloodism and gathered around the Ancestor King Giesbach before his war with Karlheinz and Brai. Tsukinami and Merz introduce themselves as pureblood adherents in the prologue of Dark Fate. Vampires who adhered to purebloodism also automatically referred to themselves as "worshippers/worshippers of the pureblood founders."

According to Carla's recollections, one such vampire follower, stationed in Pandemonium, once entered Mrs. Krone's bedroom without permission, calling her Giesbach's "lover/favorite" and claiming the king himself had sent him there. Carla immediately chased this "ill-mannered man away," and Krone confirmed that Giesbach was "gathering them from all over the Demon World" to the castle (DF Carla Maniac Prologue).

According to Carla, the pure-bloods saw the Ancestors as hope, were members of the clan, considered Karlheinz and Bri, whose influence was spreading in the Demon World, as "unpleasant company", and praised the Ancestor King and considered him a God (DF Carla Maniac Prologue).

However, when the war began, the pure-bloods betrayed Giesbach, and he was forced to admit defeat (DF Ecstasy Prologue).

Interesting facts

Carla recalled a ball where the Ancestors gathered every evening—"bright and happy," "both young and old"—and danced and sang all evening. Looking at them, Carla, who didn't particularly enjoy it,wasn't joyful on the inside.(DF Carla Ecstasy 06).

The body temperature of the progenitors, like that of vampires, is low (Dark Fate Carla Ecstasy 02) , they also have no vital need for food, and their saliva also has healing abilities.

The Ancestors have a strict patriarchy. This is common throughout the Demon World, but it's most noticeable among the Ancestors. Ancestor women were forbidden from leaving the castle and were forbidden from traveling alone. Perhaps these restrictions were also due to the fact that Ancestor blood is incredibly attractive to other races, for them it's the most delicious and desirable, meaning an Ancestor without an escort would be at risk.(just remember how Sakamaki and Mukami tore into Yui ect.)

The Ancestral Wedding lasts three days and three nights. If the food runs out, it's immediately replenished. One of the main dishes is the Ancestral-style Four Race Pudding. It's made from specially raised wolf, snake, eagle, and bat, the minced meat of which is fried and then topped with a special sauce.
