always bugged me that charlie lost her stripes

trying to figure out a little glimpse of HW backstory for future van au stuff. the SDW rips her spirit from wood to act as a defensive dryad and her home reacts to her like it does because it's a system of trees that she once belonged to, she essentially lives in her own corpse?? idk fandom specific creativity block is DUMB
