A Light in the Dark
That day Max fell asleep in the break room. His eyes slowly drifted closed and he was whisped away to a dream. All he saw were golden eyes looking back at him. Then he heard a voice. “I choose you Max. I always choose you no matter how hard I have to fall.” His eyes shot open and he jumps back. There she was again. “Do you need something,” Max asked. She smiles and says, “Max, was it. I’m Hannah. Looks like we have all the same classes this year. Your friends are a bit worried about you.” Max looks at her and scowls. She smiles in response. “So...it’s nearly time for lunch. Wanna head out?” Max hisses out, “Not a chance. Get lost.” Then he sees something. In her grey eyes, he see flecs of gold. He rubs his eyes and this time Hannah’s eyes are fully golden. Max stands up and asks, “What are you?” Hannah smiles and says, “I’m your guardian angel...Just kidding. I’m fallen. I was kicked out of heaven for falling in love with you, but the truth is i chose you. I always choose you.” Max looks at her and suddenly warmth fills the room. Max looks at her in shock and confusion. Hannah takes his hand and leads him to the bleachers. She pulls him under and holds a finger to his lips. “Don’t say anything and don’t tell a soul.” Max found he wasn’t able to speak at all. He tried to make out words but nothing came out. Then he saw a blinding golden glow and when his eyes adjusted to the light he saw two large golden wings coming from Hannah. The glow died and the image disapeared. She moved her finger and smiled, but the look in her eyes was sad. For once, Max understood.
