Depression is Real.

Depression is real.

For months I could not see or understand why I was living or why it was necessary for me to be alive. I couldn’t look in a mirror because I was so disgusted with what I saw; I hated every aspect of who I was. People tried to help me. They would tell me how much they loved me and how important I was to them, but it was impossible for me to believe them because I only saw my failures and everything I had done wrong. They would tell me that life is worth living. I didn’t believe them. I couldn’t believe them.

My depression had consumed me so much that even the tiniest light had disappeared. The sadness had become addicting because I knew it was something that would always be there; something I could depend on. I’d try to imagine people being sad if I was gone, but I couldn’t. I wasn’t that important. Yeah they might be sad, but everything would be back to normal in a couple months. No one needed me. I could feel myself getting worse by the day. I could see how much of a burden I had become. I watched people act as if they were on eggshells around me. I was disgusted with myself. I wanted to die.
