CODEX MANA

Hypha is a young witch, very young as far as witches go. They emerged from a bog some twenty years ago, at that fetid boundary between mire and magic. Hypha lived their life under the care of Zajhee (zah-HYEE) the Long-Clawed, another much older witch.

 Hypha appears vaguely like a normal "person" but they are in fact mostly plant and fungal matter; their flesh seems to be layered hyphae and moss and they have bones mostly consisting of Primordial Oak with high deposits of what you and I would call meteoric iron. Their tapeta lucida allow them to see in low-light. Their large claws allow them to scale trees with ease. Most mysterious of all Hypha's abilities is their affinity for magic. The magic minerals that run through their flesh and their deep connection to nature means that Hypha can easily cast spells and channel magic with their own body, a biological impossibility among mortals. 

What Hypha wants more than anything is to explore; They grow bored of their fenland home, of Zajhee's nagging care and of their own unrealised potential. Hypha knows that grandeur and mystery lie waiting outside their own tiny little world and they itch to know that grandeur.
