how do you think a redemption arc could work for each beast?
this includes silent salt btw, since his own redemption has only just started
"trapping the beasts and rendering them all vulnerable and defenseless while dark enchantress steals their power" is not the start of a redemption arc, imo. that's not a heroic move, that's a selfish move. that's an egotistical move.
silent salt cannot and will not be redeemed until he admits he made a mistake in sealing the beasts. until he admits his Silence towards the other emissaries is what caused them to fall. until he admits his Silence is why the impoverished people the kala namak knights swore to protect turned against him so easily. his Silence is believing he has to do everything alone, and he tainted white lily's awakening by forcing her to accept his Silence as the true version of Solidarity. narratively, as of ep14, he is the furthest beast from redemption.
in my opinion, the closest two beasts to redemption are shadow milk and eternal sugar.
literally on the battlefield, while talking to hollyberry, eternal sugar was so so so close to switching sides. i would bet money on it. and hollyberry knows what eternal sugar's problem is, she just has bigger fish to fry at the moment. eternal sugar is driven by fear to protect and keep the ones she loves safe, but she outright admits that hollyberry's passion and bravery is why she's attracted to her. for eternal sugar, her Sloth is ignorance because ignorance is bliss. she has to accept hollyberry's passion if she wants to remain by her side.
shadow milk. where do i even begin. everything he knew to be true was actually false and the only one who can probably get through to him is the light of deceit, who has been on pure vanilla's side the entire time. and now he can't even say pv doesn't understand him bc he put that man through the fount torture nexus. 1+1=2
burning spice and mystic flour are going to be a little harder, mostly because corrupting was the best thing to happen to spice, and the worst thing to happen to flour 😭
spice's destruction is freedom to him. even with that, he's... a very reckless, "i dont care what happens to me" kind of character. he wants to destroy and keep destroying until he finds something or someone strong enough to oppose him. if he never does, i fully believe he'll,,,, well, put himself out of his misery, to say it lightly. golden cheese is the immovable object to his unstoppable force, and he IS fully and completely enamored with her to a point where redemption is possible if she truly does understand his struggles... but given how much he suffered and how happy he is as a destructive force of nature, he won't want to accept that destroying everything is NOT a healthy way of dealing with his problems, bc to him it feels great to destroy! it's proof that he has a tangible effect on the world. it's a reminder that he's alive and not just an object to keep track of endless history. his redemption will take a long time. and therapy. a LOT of therapy.
and mystic flour, who deserved absolutely nothing she got, who lost everything but cloud haetae, is in so much pain that seeing how much dark cacao cares for his people is like salt in the wound (haha. ha. ahaha.) in a way, i think she truly is trying to save him the pain of living through life knowing he can't save everyone... but that's actually something she needs to accept for herself if she wants to move forward. you can't save everyone. all you can do is grit your teeth, pick yourself up, and keep moving. it'll be a hard lesson for her to learn, because her whole thing is apathy—she hasn't really given herself time to grieve her own people. first thing she's doing once she realizes apathy isn't the way forward is breaking down in tears. you have to let yourself grieve because grief is proof that you loved—but where she's at right now, she doesn't even want to love anymore. i love you myfie you deserve the world

Honestly, Twitter and Tiktok are always a nightmare. As much as people mock it, tumblr typically has the most chill fan communities that are easy to have fun in.
Yeah my problem with those two platforms are is that
Twitter has real shitty people but you don't realize it until they get exposed and a lot of shadowvanilla artist on there did
And of course is toxic
And for tiktok I must say that is the only platform I have seen people getting jumped in the replys just for shipping shadowvanilla or like saying "and then they kiss" or something
I'm glad that tumblr is chill the people on here I meet seem to be cool and I have a lot moots on here as well
i just came back from deleting twitter after going through all the shadowvanilla discourse, and my god people cannot behave themselves and act like proper, self composed adults 💔 im not gonna speak further on the topics themselves bc i dont wanna get into a possible argument with anyone (though i do have very strong opinions on one specific controversy, but other than that, i do not support nico nor milkweed), but what really pissed me off is how big creators with a large following were promoting a toxic and extremely hateful environment within the community, getting so bad to the point where people are literally celebrating creators getting run off the app and condemned into banishment, while still continuing to fuel the fire in the aftermath
i've been observing these situations over the past few days, and its legit so painful seeing people with a large following basically acting as judge/jury/executioner,, i've witnessed some people making insensitive satirical posts or jokes to make fun of content thats already under fire, and others literally saying supporters of such content deserve death,, like WHAT????
absolutely baffled by how things on twitter are going on atm,, my entire tl was just everyone arguing and accusing eachother, and like.... is this really how we want our community to be? just a cesspool of hate and toxicity that drives away people who find comfort in the ship? like, no wonder why shadowvanilla shippers have such a bad reputation in the fandom, people just love to stir the pot and blowing things out of proportion when these issues could be resolved in a proper, mature and controlled manner
thank god tumblr is much more chill and supportive, i appreciate everyone here 🫶
and lesson of the day: please be nice and civilized to fellow creators, especially when people look up to you and can be influenced by your words,, handle serious topics maturely and for the love of god, do not start jumping people and instigating a witch hunt that ends up hurting other innocent people on the side 😭🙏
