All scottish cuisine is based on a dare;

“Ah yes, ‘you’re going to hate me for this’ is how every girl loves to start a conversation” she laughed, parting from him but being sure to not go too far away. Soon enough students would be coming to class and they would have to sit there and pretend like they wanted to do anything but be cuddled up on the couch together back at his place watching some terrible movie “which means you’ll be coming to class early instead of eating the pancakes I was planning on making” she teased “honestly, the only one missing out is going to be you” 

She didn’t mind. Honestly, his hard working drive was one of the many reasons she loved him. She would never change that “I suppose I’ll survive the morning without you but I definitely expect lunch and dinner since I won’t be with you much tomorrow as I’ll be working on my thesis all day” she informed him

He had to admit, it was not the best way to start any greeter, but he couldn’t put on a false pretense with Olive. Or anyone in general; “Fortunately for me, any other girl would rudely cause chaos for never spending time with them and you made me feel guilty for even canceling, so I will definitely make it up to you.” he promised. It wasn’t a lie either, in his previous relationships -- temporary flings -- to be exact, they always became clingy and when he had to cancel, they always got angry or emotional or dramatic. But not with her, not with Olive. “I wish i were eating pancakes right now.” and the innuendo behind that statement was obvious as he looked at her. 

“Lunch and dinner it is.” he promised, and while it was sad to think he would not be seeing  alot of her tomorrow, he was planning on at least feeding her so she wouldn’t become frustrated. “How is that thesis coming along?” he asks. “Do you need help with anything? Maybe I can always find observations or articles you may need to compare it with?” he offered, even though he already knew the answer. “Also, be aware that while you’ll be busy, i’ll be thinking about you all day. So don’t freak out if you receive odd, lovey dovey messages from me.” he added half teasingly, yet serious as well. 

“There’s my beautiful, perfect girlfriend.” he started off as he greeted her with a hug, before leaning in to peck her lips. “You’re going to hate me for this, but I agreed to help one of my students out tomorrow morning for an extra credit assignment. But I can always make it up to you by making you lunch and dinner.” he offers just as he leaned in to nudge his nose against her own. He couldn’t take enough of her, it was too sad that they were always working, because he wouldn’t leave her side at all if they weren’t.

“Not enough if you ask me. I’m trying to make up for lost time and the school having rules isn’t helping with that” there was an exaggerated pout in her voice even though she meant what she had said. They had spent far too much time wasted on the drama that prevented them from being together- him from seeing her the way she had always seen him. It was a little sad, if you really thought about it but Olive didn’t care. What they had was an epic love. The kind of love that one would read about in movies or watch on film. If it took them ten years to get there it only made the story that much better “I mean, it was a little hard to manage but I tried my best to squeeze you in right between my meeting with the prime minister and lunch with Rowling” She continued on with the charade, both of them knowing that there was no place she would rather be. Her head tilted up slightly to give him easier access to her neck, lips meeting tenderly with this top of his head before she forced herself to pull away from him “There will be plenty of time for couch kisses but we only have a weekend before we’ve got to go back to school. Come on, up and out of those pyjamas. I didn’t cancel tea with the queen for nothing”  

Olive’s head lulled back, a dreadful groan escaping her as the overexaggerated sound filled the room around them “I was hoping we had more time” she laughed, knowing full well that they didn’t. She enjoyed being able to spend all this time with him- just the two of them, no rules against their relationship. Back at school, they would have to be formal and cordial once more, longing glances as they passed each other in the hallway, hours pretending she wasn’t wishing they were doing anything other than teaching in the lecture room. And that didn’t even include the simple amount of work that would be placed on both of their shoulders “Hmm,” she pondered, moving forward and taking her phone off the table “I think- if I just clear this and that-” she teased, tossing it to the side and quickly pulling him in for a playful kiss “That sounds lovely” she beamed

“Don’t fret, we’ll have just enough time making eye contact and preventing each other from attacking all the smug idiots that don’t know anything.” oh if she only knew the amount of times he’d gotten into some sort of argument over an artifact in class with an overbearing student. “But we’ll have time, i’l lmake time for us, I promise.” he added in assurance before pressing his lips to her forehead. He was lucky enough to finally make a move, so seeing that she was with him no and again, he wasn’t going to mess this up. Her facade only caused him to roll his eyes in a playful manner. “I’m so happy you decided to make some time for me, I was beginning to think you didn’t want me around.” he only teased before reattaching his lips to hers. “Good, i think you’ll enjoy this.” he added against her lips as his arm snaked around her waist to pull her in closer. “--Also, I really, really want to keep kissing you right now, so don’t mind my kisses.” he teased while trailing his lips to her jaw line until he was kissing her neck. He never thought he’d be doing this. Why was he an idiot then? How had he gotten so lucky now? He blamed the alcohol and hormones if he were being honest, but no regrets.

They hadn’t moved in together yet- not officially at least- but it was a rarity for either of them to wind up sleeping alone these days. Outside of work they were nearly always together, cuddled up or out and about the small college town. If someone had told her ten years ago that this was going to be, wrapping in a blanket with Chris’ arm lazily slumped over her shoulder, she never would have believed them. His lips touching her skin caused a grin that she could barely seem to allow leave her face to reappear. Her entire body turned to face him, adjusting herself which made her fully realise just how stiff she had started to become from sitting in the same position for lord only knew how long “How many days do we have before spring break is over?” She wasn’t really ready to leave the comfort of his arms but it also might be nice to go out and grab a late lunch at some point

Classes were about to start in session once again, which meant he only had a couple more days of freedom before the two became busy with work. He was taking advantage of spring break and spending every moment with her--- kind of like making up for all the lost time. The television was playing something, but he wasn’t paying much attention to what was on or what they were watching. Granted, the couch wasn’t the best place to cuddle because of how small it was, but at the same time it was a lot better because of how small it was, which meant her frame was pressed firmly against his own. His hand played with the hem of her shirt, gliding his fingers underneath slowly, just enough as to not interrupt her while she was watching t.v. as he leaned in just close enough to her ear to press a kiss before speaking. “What would you like to do today? Or would you rather just watch movies all day?” he asked teasingly. Not that he minded, honestly if it meant remaining this close to her, he truly didn’t mind.
