DAVESPRITE:: “Ah. Makes sense,” he quips, relaxing again. He’s immensely relieved that she wasn’t creeped out by his questioning— oh, great. Questions about him. He rolls his shoulders and glances out to the sea. “I’ve been…alright. Ain’t been doin’ much, really. Haven’t seen anyone in a while, so that sucks, but other than that…I can’t complain much.” He could. There are plenty of things he could complain about, the least being the stares he gets for his wings and lack of a lower body. The worst…he doesn’t want to ruin the moment. He’s missed her. But now, he can’t come up with anything to say.

She can sense that he’s lying- she was always very good at that. She had gotten used to Dave’s cool exterior and had learned to see beneath the surface. Davesprite was different in his own unique way, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t see right through him. “What’s wrong?” Her voice comes out softly; barely audible over the crash of the surf. But he hears her alright. She made sure of it. Just by the slight ruffle of his feathers and twitch of his tail, she knows her question was noted. 

DAVESPRITE:: And he's already cursing himself for the knee-jerk...tail-jerk reaction to her question, not necessarily noticing his tremor reached through his feathers as well. Damn. He'd forgotten just how good she was at that. Even when he hung out around Egbert, the kid never noticed. And Lalonde was pretty perceptive, but she could never see through him to the extent Harley could. Maybe it was because he was more relaxed with her. Even his Alpha counterpart couldn't tell as easily as she could. It really was a gift. "Nothin' new. 'S just, well...people don't like me, Harley. Simple as that."

DAVESPRITE:: And there it is. Her accent. He almost loses it and says ‘but youre out here’, and he almost tells her just why he’s stayed out on a day he’d usually pass on. Preening his feathers later is going to be hell. They were already rumpled and sand-flecked as it were. “It’s not too bad. Why’re you out here, then, if no one comes outside?”

She shrugs. She’s not really sure why she’s here- especially on such a chilly day. Something sparked in her and she wanted to go to the beach. Specifically, this one. It’s her favorite. “I dunno, I just wanted to watch the waves I guess!” She shrugs again and backs up, sliding down into the sand and leaning against the piece of wood. “It’s nice to get away from people for a while,” She smiles up at the orange sprite in front of her. “But I don’t mind having you around!! I’ve missed you a lot, actually…”

DAVESPRITE:: He hesitates for a moment, wondering why exactly she’d missed him. Or whether she missed him specifically at all, and she was just using him as a substitute for ‘the real Dave’. Alright, if he was being realistic, Harley wouldn’t do that. She’s no Egbert. “Yeah? Guess it’s been a while.” And he settles next to her, ignoring the sand he’s going to have to shake off later. “What’s new, then?”

Shaking her head, she looks to the ocean, observing the sweeping motion of the tide. It’s hypnotic, capturing her for a moment before she snaps out of the trance. “Nothing really. Boring stuff that you wouldn’t be very interested in I suppose,” She turns her head towards the sprite. “Although, I did sign up for college classes! I’m majoring in psychology,” She says proudly. “My job kinda sucks though. People are rude when they’re hungry!!”

He’s entranced too, though the ocean has naught to do with it. “Psychology? Jegus Harley, not you too. Lalonde’s bad enough…what? You’ve got a job?” He stares at her for a minute. No way, she’s as old as he is. Why should she have a— Oh, right. They’re plenty old enough. She’s in college. He forgets his age sometimes. Kinda hard to when you hardly change from day to day, week to week, month to month. Not like he can get a job or head off to college, anyway. Not as a birdman. You’d think it’d make him like a superhero, but apparently interspecies equality was just another myth from Egbert’s movies. He considers taking online classes for a moment before snapping out of it. It wasn’t important at the moment. “…where do you work? And when? I mean, you’ve got classes, where do you find the time?” Ah, Jesus, Dave. Way to sound like some kind of college girl stalking tool.

“I take some of my classes on campus- the rest I take online. I only work about twenty-five hours a week so I do have time to do stuff and do my work for my courses,” She explains easily.
