here is what i think of love

i don't really mind him being married still because we'll always have fic, but it's sad because you can feel the vibes shifting in the fandom now. we'll always be seen as the bad guys now for shipping a married man with mel, even if they're fictional characters :/

i have to be totally honest, i don’t think that was ever in the cards this season. everyone involved with this show has always been incredibly clear about their goals and intentions here, and though i initially hoped that the bits and pieces we got to signal frank/abby’s marital issues in s1 would come up again, the closer we got to s2 - and the more they clearly wanted to frame frank’s return as him fully healed and reintegrating, getting a “second chance” at life - the more i realized this wouldn’t be the case… frank’s recovery is idealized in many ways, and that includes portraying a wholly positive spin on a marriage that could have (should have?) been easily ripped apart by something like this. they have frank say this directly (gotta love this show’s subtlety lol) - abby should have left, any other woman would, but she didn’t. frank gets a second chance

i dont think any of patrick’s or taylor’s reactions to any questions they’ve been asked can be clearly tracked to any of this, because this was likely always the plan. i know we have fun reading into everything they say, but taken at face value they’ve never implied anything else. that said, the show canon and my fanon have always existed in two cleanly divided worlds, and as long as the foundation of their dynamic is honored - which it does sound like it will be - i am happy. i don’t really need anything else from the show in terms of the ship itself

i don’t know if i feel the vibes shifting, though? maybe im missing something or just not seeing it, but nothing about what we’ve been told so far necessarily competes with what we’ve been writing or makes me worry, whether that’s an infidelity plot or a divorced frank or whatever. he tells dana that they’re still together, but he doesn’t really indicate how they’re doing. there is PLENTY of room to play there. remember, couples in pennsylvania need to be separated for a year before they can file for divorce
