Good day po. I am Shaira currently taking up BS Bio sa UPLB din and I amgreatly considering MCB as my major also. I would just like to ask kung nagwowork ka na ngayon sa industry or taking further studies perhaps? And also, in demand po ba ang BS Bio major in MCB sa industry yung tipong hindi pa gumagraduate eh may institutions ng interested na kunin sila or something like that? I am very sorry from the bottom of my heart :(So first answer, yes, I was hired agad thru the job fair that was held at SU last 2012. Well, I have to say, in the real world, malaking factor na from UP ka, so plus points na yun sa atin during hiring. Then, tama yang gingawa mo na magsurvey before choosing your major, I was influenced by my housemates na lahat BIO at mostly Micro Majors. Gusto ko tlga kasi magwork sa food industries. So with that, you decide kasi if not micro yung bet mo, you can go with other majors. But one good thing about Micro is its flexibility, you can pursue masters, you can teach, you can pursue medicine, you can do research, you can be a QA or R&D in food companies and many others kasi matutunan mo talaga yung skills sa laboratory. Kasi yung objective at technical part eh maaaral naman.Kung sa hiring, bastat you have good potentials madaling natatanggap. Yes, in demand ang QA sa industries, but hindi lang kasi Micro majors ang pwede, kahit Agri, Food Tech and Chem Eng hinahire. Complicated na rin kasi ang real world. Kahit ano pwede tayo magfit at pwede tayo ifit.As for me, I am half hearted with my course in general, but I am happy na natagpuan ko ang passion ko thru my first and current job. I am a Senior Technical Sales and somehow a consultant to food companies. The nature of the job is peculiar, but I am really enjoying it.
