Contemporary Textiles Fair 2019  - Call for Application

The Contemporary Textiles Fair is a well-established, high quality and highly regarded event, held in the magnificent Grade II* gothic surroundings of the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington, South-West London.

The fair is almost unique in its focus on textile artists & designer makers, unencumbered by suppliers, DIY kits, and other craft disciplines. It is this clear focus, together with the unique setting and returning visitors that make this event both enjoyable and successful, year after year.

Sheffield Print Fair

Deadline: 3rd September 2018

Fee: Stalls are £65 each (a 6ftx2ft table), or £32.50 for a half-table.

Details: We are proud to launch the 6th annual ‘Sheffield Print Fair’, which will take place on Saturday 10th November 2018, at St Mary’s Church & Community Centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield.

The event will run from 10am until 4pm, and will feature printmaker stalls as well as print demonstrations and kids print workshops throughout the day. This year, we will also be introducing a print raffle too! The event is a fundraiser for St Mary’s and their projects helping homeless people and refugees.

LPW artist, Mandy Payne, is having an exhibition of paintings and lithographs at the Angear Visitor Centre, Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham NG7 2RD, from September 1st - October 28th, 2018. 

The gallery opening hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 5pm  and Sunday 12noon - 4pm. There will be a private view on Thursday 27th September between 6-7.30pm to which all are welcome. 

North Devon Artist Residency

NDAR is an artist residency based in the village of Combe Martin, North Devon, on the edge of Exmoor. The residency provides space for new work, for contemporary artists at any stage of their career. The residency was founded with the aim of stimulating contemporary and innovative work engaging with and inspired by Combe Martin and north Devon. Only artists with a genuinely cutting edge, high quality and innovative practice will be considered for this residency. Resident artists will have accommodation in a two-bedroom cottage in the village, and will work from the cottage. Residency applications which include a public or participatory event are very welcome, but are not an essential requirement.

Bridgeman Studio Award 2018

Artists Access to Art Colleges

The AA2A project (Artists Access to Art Colleges) is offering over 50 placements, giving artists and designer-makers the opportunity to undertake a period of research or realise a project using art college facilities e.g. workshops, IT facilities, lending library, lecture programme. AA2A schemes aim to benefit students and institutions through their interaction with practising artists.

Garden Party on the opening night of the Lawn & Meadow exhibition, which is being held at Participate Arts in Shrewsbury on Friday 27th July 5pm-7pm. 

The exhibition is open to the public from Tues 24th July - Saturday 11th August (open tues-sat 11am-5pm; tel 01743-270229.). 

So if you are in the area and want to see some great art for free, there are around 20 artists selected for the show, so plenty to see! And if you know people around that area please feel free to pass on the invite and details in the flyer above (showing one of the solar plate prints that Mita has in the show).

RBSA Print Prize 2018

LPW artist, Jonathan Costall, has had two Linocut prints selected for the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Print exhibition. The show runs from July 26th until September 1st.

Print Studio Technician: 2 days per week

The Art House is seeking to appoint a Print Studio Technician, to provide technical expertise and assistance in the successful management and maintenance of The Art House Print Studio.

The role requires someone with experience of working within a print studio environment, with knowledge of both traditional etching methods and acrylic-based techniques. Work days will be arranged in advance but a flexible approach to hours worked will be required to meet the needs of the Artistic Programme.

Sheffield Print Fair 2018:  Call for artists

Notification of 6th annual 'Sheffield Print Fair', which will take place on Saturday 10th November 2018, at St Mary's Church & Community Centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield.

We are offering 44 stalls at the event for artists/printmakers. We are now looking for applicants for the event, printmakers from Sheffield and beyond; woodcut, mezzotint, linocut, screen-print, wood-engravings, digital prints, monoprints and more! We are also looking for people who are interested in doing a demonstration of their print technique (to whom we will offer a free table).

VIA Arts Prize Call for Entries

Organised by the Embassies of Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, the VIA Arts Prize is London’s bespoke visual celebration of Ibero-American themed arts. It is hosted annually at the Embassy of Brazil in London.

UK based artists are invited to send in an original work in response to this year’s theme of ‘dialogues’. The theme remains the same as last year, as VIA team believed the notions of dialogues and communication continue to be pivotal in our current social, economic and cultural environments. Entered pieces will have the opportunity to be one of the top thirty works exhibited at the Embassy of Brazil in London later in 2018.

The winner of the prize, as chosen by a high profile judging panel, wins £5,000 and their winning work becoming part of the Embassy of Brazil’s permanent collection. The runner-up receives £2,000 and their working becoming a permanent feature in sponsor Itaú’s collection.

Artist in Residence

Access Space in Sheffield is looking for an artist or artist-researcher to be resident for fifteen days between September 11th and October 4th 2018.

This year’s theme is Postdigital.

Artist fee is 1500 GBP, accommodation is provided, use of venue and maker space included.

Bainbridge Print Fellowship

Bainbridge Print Studios is seeking applications for a Printmaking Fellow for intaglio and relief processes.

This post is an exciting opportunity for a skilled printmaker, graduate or early career artist to take an active role in developing and maintaining a professional open access print room in an active and welcoming print studio.

There will be the freedom to shape and make changes, as much as is possible. With this in mind we are looking for someone who will relish taking ownership of the print room and who will enjoy and benefit from taking an active role in the smooth running of these facilities and in supporting open access members to make work.

‘an object surviving from an earlier time’

Relics is a solo exhibition of new work by LPW Artist Theo Miller, exploring xenotopic landscapes using letterpress techniques. The prints are formed of combinations of 12pt Monotype Border. The resulting images allude to an idealism of uninterrupted landscape, just shades of green and blue. The prints are taken from images of relic-ed surviving patches of green space, deliberately preserved.

Arts & Crafts Tutor Call-Out: New Walk Museum & Art Gallery

We are looking to deliver some short courses for adults and children who wish to discover new skills and improve their techniques.  

We are seeking a range of practitioners in a variety of art and craft media to provide training.

The 6-week courses could be led by a single practitioner with a variety of skills or by 6 separate tutors. The young people’s Summer Art Courses should ideally be run by the same person. You are welcome to apply for more than one opportunity.

Tutors will be paid £25 per hour, plus costs of providing any specialist materials or equipment.

We don’t have a  set closing date for applications, but would be looking to confirm appointments for delivery of the winter sessions by the start of September.
