they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"

the most depressing part is that it's not even kamala's stance on genocide that is costing her the elections. i wish it were. it's people genuinely shifting for trump. but it's the pro-palestine movement that's going to get the blame for it.

obviously she fucked up on that front and on multiple other fronts (an understatement) but if these results have showed anything it's that the alt right white majority will never vote for a black woman even if she were perfect. but liberals will blame arabs for the faults of white nationalism and misogyny. at this point if you're blaming the pro-palestine movement and saying shit like "are you happy now? is this what you wanted?" you're just brimming with anti-arab hatred that you're desperate to release at any given opportunity

scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds. not only has this instantaneous scapegoating of minorities and marginalized groups exposed how little dems and libs actually care about their supposed causes, it’s been outright vindictive. the calls for collective punishment of southerners, many of whom are victims of gerrymandering and voter suppression or are part of the marginalized groups that libs claim to be helping, shows how quickly dems will switch to fascist thought processes when things don’t go their way. never will we see accountability for Kamala’s blatant disregard of the words of her supposed base. never will we see a genuine acknowledgement of how the Democratic Party has left their people behind, at least not for a long time. i understand that mobilization requires reaching out and bringing moderates and liberals to the left, but the widespread reactionary thinking in these groups has become not just an inconvenience but a genuine barrier to doing so, to the extent where I’m debating whether or not to bother at all.

why is it that usamericans who have never interacted with anyone from outside the core or even marxists from within it prepend “american” to whatever type of “leftist” they dislike. “its a common sentiment among american leftists that not voting is the only moral choice” no it isnt “american leftists commonly support the prc and ussr” no they fucking dont

its in the same genre as “old dead white man ideology”. white us liberals who want to seem Progressive and Not Racist when in fact they Arent

the expansion of the “leftist” label to cover anything left of center (sometimes even encroaching on right wing ideologies at times) has exacerbated this tendency imo, now suddenly people who have never explored any anticapitalist politics will use “white leftists” or “american leftists” as a way to distance themselves from ideas that are too radical for them to subscribe to
