Flins overhears a conversation between Varka and Lohen. Lohen wants to ask someone out but thinks the person is in a relationship, and Varka is busy convincing him to ask if the dude’s single and go from there.
Now, this is interesting to Flins because he’s bored and currently has nothing better to do than tease the Mondstaters, hence why he’s even at the Favonius Keep at the moment. He came here to mess with his drinking buddy, but this is much more interesting.
So, he follows Lohen. He follows Lohen all the way to Cliffwatch Camp. It wouldn’t be the first time a Mondstater gained an infatuation with one of the Lightkeepers (poor Varka being one of them who suffered the cruel fate of denial), but Flins was curious which Lightkeepers it was.
Was it Anleifer, the man who’d punch even Starshyna Nikita in order for him to wisen up before taking every punishment for doing so with a smile?
Perhaps it was Rollon, Ivar’s younger brother. That man could mellow out the Vice Captain of the 5th Company, especially with his ability to forsake the rules when necessary.
Ah, even the Traveler could be in his sights, they do often stop by Cliffwatch Camp to speak with Illuga.
Lohen made a beeline towards Illuga, the Captain speaking with Vlaicu about something probably Fatui related. He waited on the side for a bit before Vlaicu walked off, nodding at Flins (who had forsaken his cover by now) as he passed by to get some supplies.
“Lohen, what brings you here?” The young man tilted his head, narrowing his eyes and crossing his arms at Lohen’s hesitance. “You didn’t make an outbreak worse in an attempt to stave off boredom again, correct?”
The knight shook his head, straightening his shoulders and taking a deep breath, “No. I was curious,” he paused, stepping behind Illuga and mindlessly tapping on the cloth covered crate before turning directly towards the Lightkeeper with a smile that verged on confidence but didn’t quite hit it, “are you dating someone?”
Illuga uncrossed his arms in shock, the suspicious stare falling into one of disbelief.
Flins, who was trying not to laugh, hid his mouth behind his massive collar.
“N-No?” The Captain sputtered out.
Lohen seemed 10x lighter than before, which was not typically good news. Today, however, it led to the second thing Illuga will never live down (first being the soloing the Abyss incident)
“So you’re not with Flins?” He smiled, slightly teasing the man.
Flins and Illuga stood still, unnervingly so.
Lohen tapped Illuga’s shoulder, bringing him back to the land of the living with a jolt and an “Oh fuck no! No no no. No. No.”
The knight laughed at his response, “Birdie, you sound like that’d be completely inappropriate.”
Flins finally broke from his shaken stance, shaking his head in dismay.
“He’s with my old man! It’d be very inappropriate!” Illuga squeaked, not even noticing how his voice had raised higher in his disturbed state.
“Okay, okay,” Lohen put up his hands in surrender, “I’ll admit, I didn’t know that.”
Flins had almost forgotten why he was following this knight in the first place, until Lohen smirked and lowered his hands again.
“Would you mind if I went on a date with one of the Nightmare Orioles?” He tilted his head, tapping on the clothed crate again.
Illuga also tilted his head, “Why would you need to ask me?”
“Captain’s approval,” Lohen started studying the nails on his other hand.
The young man didn’t seem to be buying it, but he relented anyway. “I don’t have any issue with it, but make sure it doesn’t interfere with their duties.”
These Mondstaters could be far too sneaky sometimes, Lohen’s smirk turning into a concerning grin when he gained approval. Flins was starting to suspect he knew where this was going.
“Thank you. Now, Birdie,” Lohen looked back up at him, still tapping his fingers on the clothed crate, “will you go on a date with me?”
Illuga stared at him. He stared at him for so long Lohen had started deflating a bit, his confidence taking a hit with each second like it was electro-charged.
Finally, Illuga spoke. “You’re not fucking with me, right?”
Lohen, being a godsdamned learner of the Flirt skill from Varka, immediately blurted out, “We should wait until later for that, though I love the enthusiasm.” Then, in a moment of what-the-fuck-did-I-just-say, he shook his head.
Illuga, now fully red and never letting Lohen live this down (they’ll go down together), stood there in silence.
Hell, it was long enough of a silence even Flins thought he’d reject the knight, and Flins had been listening to him simp on repeat over this man for the past 3 months.
And then, quietly, Illuga gently grasped Lohen’s hand and bowed, kissing it like some nobleman from the fae courts. “Where and when is this date, Sir Lohen?”
Look, Flins couldn’t be any more proud of this his Young Master (fun headcanon: he still has yet to convince Nikita to let him call Nikita “Master,” something something Nikita thinks Flins outranks him and Flins thinks Nikita outranks him and it’s an entire ordeal)
It was Lohen’s turn to be red, but he managed to fully keep his composure (somehow), “Tomorrow, I’ll join you on patrol.”
Illuga laughed, a full, joyous, laugh. Because of course, of course, Lohen found fighting the Abyss to be a perfect date idea.
Yet Illuga accepted, because the time spent after while writing reports with Lohen in the room was just that much lighter.
Might I request an illuhen with Lohen & Aedon teaming up on Illuga to make him rest? I’m perfectly happy with any ideas that come out of this concept (:

Illuga waking up to a nightmare. Including: Lohen, who stayed overnight at his house on the couch because, to quote, “The knights will wake me up and I want to sleep in” (read: missed his boyfriend and wants to sleep in)
Illuga stood up and walked behind the partition, the world still a blur. The lights were still on, but only the dimmest ones. He saw a blurry man at the kitchen counter, the blues and general dressed down look of him making it clear who it was.
“Bun?” The Lightkeeper murmured, just loud enough in the quiet room that Lohen could still hear.
The knight turned his heard around with a questioning hum.
Illuga slowly walked towards him, Lohen noticing the tear streaks down his face and his overall appearance.
“Birdie, come here,” he reached out his arms and, upon Illuga stumbling closer to him, wrapped him into a hug.
They stayed like that for a bit before Lohen whispered, “Nightmare?”
Illuga hummed in agreement, nodding his head lightly.
Lohen sighed, finally pulling away but sliding his hand to Illuga’s cheek, “Lua…”
“I could’ve done something…” he murmured.
Lohen’s face fell as he wiped the tears that were reforming.
“I should’ve helped,” he choked out, the tears falling once more, “I should’ve helped him, Loh…”
The knight sighed, shaking his head softly before wrapping his hand behind Illuga’s head and pulling it into his chest. He placed soft kisses on silver hair and ran his hands through it as Illuga sobbed.
“He could’ve-“ he coughed, “Captain…”
Lohen slid his hand to run it over the man’s back, setting his cheek on top of his head.
Slowly, Illuga ran out of tears. They stayed there.
“Birdie?”
“Mhm?”
“Let’s go see Ivar.”
Illuga pulled away, wiping the crust out of his eyes, “what if he’s asleep?”
Lohen smiled, “then I’ll carry you back here and we’ll make a burrito.”
The Lightkeeper laughed softly, and then they set off.
I know nothing of the characters yet bc I havent get in the game in a long as time (only up to Lunar II) but they always look neat so go draw them... ummmmm holding hands wow so scandalous
