Betrayed was the only word that came across Taffyta’s mind when she texted Rancis to meet at their spot. She was....stunned. He flirted with her openly, then he ran off to make out with her enemy? She was angry, she was hurt, and she didn’t know what the fuck to do. If Rancis of all people was going behind her back with Vanellope, then what the fuck was the point for having friends? Or anyone? She thought she could trust him but now she had no idea. “So nice of you to show up,” Taffyta said with a pop of her gum after he finally showed up. “I’m sure you know I kind of hate you right now.”

Taffyta didn’t even bother to be fake nice. She stormed the race track, marched right up to Vanellope, and sized her up. “Alright Glitch,” she hissed, not giving a single shit who saw her because what were they gonna do? Record it? Taffyta wanted people to see this. “You love playing with fire, don’t you? Was your insta story not enough clout? You want more?” She raised an eyebrow, eyes daring her to try it. “Because if you think I am putting you through it now....You haven’t seen shit. You will get all that attention and fame, darling. Consider this a promise.”

Taffyta was almost a little annoyed that Eric hadn’t tried to hit her up recently. She was annoyed when she didn’t see him at the ball and she was made only more annoyed when he didn’t hit her up after. She let it sit for a bit before she decided that enough was enough and she was going to go surprise him at his. She did send a text first, but not until she was at his door about to knock. If he was smart, he was the one who answered and not one of his bros. When the door did open and it was indeed Eric, Taffyta put her hands on her hips, looking at him expectantly. “Hello? Why haven’t you hit me up?” She let her hands fall to her sides. “You never told me how hot I look as a brunette.” The change was only made a day or two ago, but he had social media and eyes so she knows he saw it. At least as far as she was concerned he did.

Rancis should’ve expected Taffyta to be hesitant, but he obviously wasn’t thinking very clearly. He was caught up in the moment, caught up in his emotions and the alcohol and not thinking about consequences to his actions. “I don’t know,” he admitted truthfully, pausing to take a sip of his drink as he looked at Taffyta with his eyebrows raised curiously. “I guess I’ll never really know.”

Taffyta didn’t say anything for a moment, just let his doubt hang in the air even though she thought that was silly. Sipping at her drink she set the glass down and crossed her arms over her chest. “You’ll know. So if you gotta overthink it right now, I think you already know the answer, don’t you?”

Maybe it was because Vidia had ditched him for the night, or maybe it was simply the alcohol — after all, Rancis was rather quick to let his guard down while under the influence. Considering he was always hiding the truth in some way in his everyday life, it made sense that as soon as he was intoxicated, it was easy for him to speak the truth and act on his true desires. Besides, he also couldn’t help but notice how beautiful Taffyta looked and how the moment just felt right. “I don’t know,” he answered truthfully, shrugging his shoulders. “Maybe I’ve been wanting to for awhile, but I was waiting for the right time.”

Taffyta wasn’t sure if he was being dead honest or full of shit. Rancis liked games and he was a flirt when he was drunk. She has seen him flirt with so many people and he came here with Vidia so it didn’t really make sense for him to mean it. But it was Rancis and he didn’t like to make sense all the time. “This is the right time? Are you sure?” She was asking questions because she just didn’t know what to say.

Taffyta rolled her eyes, a smirk on her lips. Rancis was always saying stupid stuff like this, and she always shrugged it off. Because she could go along with it, sure, but she didn’t need to look like she was flirting with him. Because then he might not wanna hang around her because he didn’t think that was something they should really do with each other. Plus she was pretty sure he already had a few drinks and she did too, so she knew this could go very wrong if she didn’t say the right thing. “You know I am not going to answer that, Rancis,” she said with a slight chuckle. “I am not going to entertain you.”  @rfluggerbutter

vanellope gives taffyta a pointed look, still cautious of her and her offering. no matter how suspicious she is, she still wants taffyta to like her again and for their current situation to be behind them. maybe this is a peace offering, she thinks looking down at the eggnog in front of her. “ okay… ” she says quietly. vanellope takes a hesitant sip, the strength of the eggnog masking how strong the alcohol is. “ fine, its good. ” she concedes, “ but you can’t blame me for being skeptical. ” she reasons as she takes a bigger sip than before.

taffyta couldn’t help but smile as she watched vanellope drink her overly-spiked nog, almost laughing but containing herself enough so that vanellope didn’t stop drinking it. at this rate she was going to be stumbling through the festival if she kept drinking it that fast. “I put extra cinnamon in it. since you like, love that so much. it’s the holidays. so. figured i do something chartiable.”

“Uh huh,” Rancis nodded once, his tone jokingly suspicious as he eyed her carefully. Rancis was known to fuck up around Taffyta without even realizing sometimes, so he usually had to watch what he said or did to stay on her good side. Though, this was proven difficult with a few drinks in him. He shrugged his shoulders at her question, “I think that’s the challenge.. I still haven’t found shit that’s our kinda fun.” He paused to finish his drink, tossing the cup in the nearby trash. “I could buy you a drink and we could show these fools how to sing some real karaoke?” He offered as he nodded toward the nearby karaoke area, the sound of some awful singing voices echoing in their direction. “Y’know I’ll only do it if you have a drink with me, though.”

“Karaoke?’ Taffyta repeated, suddenly interested. “I mean, you are right. These people need to know what good signing sounds like. “But we drink after I crush it. I don’t need these people hearing me sing off-key. And we are totally going to do a sappy duet. So...start thinking of ideas now, kay?” She took his hand and started dragging him towards the sound of singing. “You have about two minutes to think of the perfect duet.”

it was hard to believe there was a period of time when taffyta and vanellope were close friends who dreamed of racing together. that seemed like a completely different life now when she tried to avoid taffyta like the plague. the other girl had turned her into her nemesis and vanellope still couldn’t wrap her head around how quickly it all changed. when taffyta sauntered up to her vanellope finds herself immediately on the defense. part of her hoped maybe taffyta would finally come around but being called glitch quickly erases that. her lips purse together in slight annoyance, tentatively taking the cup that same hopeful part unable to really say no to her former friend. “ what did you do to it? ” she asks inspecting the cup. it’d bee a couple years since taffyta was ever nice to her, she had her suspicions. “ did you spit in it? poison it? put laxatives in it? ” she asks, sniffing the egg nog.

taffyta laughed, loud and obnoxious. of course vanellope was going to ask those kinds of questions; taffyta only made it sound like she was going to get rid of her every time they talked. but no, sadly vanellope was very off base this time. “of course not. it’s classic egg nog. just drink it weirdo.” she was not good at pretending to be even a little nice at van and she knew the glitch was aware of it. but she still took the drink and that was win enough in taffy’s book. she sipped at her own egg nog, regretting it because she thought it tasted degusting but she needed to keep the appearance. “see? delicious. obviously.”
