good omens finale ramblings
so we've now seen what? 3 different ways that crowley and aziraphale first met ? this is my least favorite. i think i prefer the mid-creation of the universe, i have questions one. partly bc i can still keep them meeting in eden as their first time meeting as 'enemies'. mid-creation, they were both angels. eden, they're on opposite sides now.
lmao i love how excited az is to bring about peace on earth while almost everyone else is ugh. i'd kill for a good holy war. first armageddon goes bust, then gabe and beelzebub avert a potential war through love, and now we're skipping the second coming ? terrible. we're supposed to be warriors.
"he has , uh , qualities." absolutely gleaming praise for your boyfriend of... how many eons?
wow. heaven has really let itself go, huh? first gabe, then metatron, jesus, and the book of life all at once ? lu would love to see them falling apart. serves them right the self-righteous fucks.
kinda loving the idea of hellborn demons not able to say the names of certain heavenly beings / hearing it causing pain. makes sense in a you're so far below us you don't even get to breath our names kinda way. and obviously hurting demons is always on the table.
heaven / az being so out of touch with what's been happening on earth is an A+ touch. they're focused on the loooong-term ineffable plan , prepping for war with hell , etc. as long as earth is still spinning , does what's going on down there matter ? not to them ! i feel like this works for hazbin too. oh ! that could be a stressor for gabe. "guys. things are actually terrible down there. should we, idk, help them ? at least a little ? i know we're hands off but come on"
crowley is so soft. protecting the bookshop bc it's all he has left of az. willing to give the bentley up to protect it. ugh my heart ! snarky asshole with a gooey center. we love to see it.
i once said lucifer is both crowley and aziraphale and i still stand by this. he absolutely is. i will not elaborate. that's self-explanatory.
book of life... what if we pulled that into hellaverse ? idk how yet but hmmmm
"heaven isn't on anyone's side" sounds like a lu quote. he 100% believes heaven doesn't give a fuck about anyone*. in his experience heaven cares more about the rules and maintaining the status quo than anything else. *heaven as an institution, not individual angels.
i'm the useful idiot lmao ! precious murial the self-aware angel.
what if i said i wanted to give lu his version of the bentley ? he drives just as recklessly as crowley except when charlie is in the car then he drives like aziraphale. insists on taking it to meetings with heaven just so he can obnoxiously park it in the way to piss them off.
wait. jesus handing out pizza and giving life advice is kinda giving gabriel's first extended stay with humans. a little weird but clearly well meaning and very nice. also how does he know that ??
satan casually strolling in after creation ends is giving lucifer. "it's about pride and honor." "i thought we had a chance." "i did care." "i'm over being blamed for evil."
i think lu might have the same question for God as crowley. though the 'that's just free will' answer doesn't really work when lu is the one that gave humans free will. i'm not about to get into the big G's philosophical existential beliefs though so we'll just leave it unanswered. az's first question sounds a little like gabe too.
az's little you're there best of us speech to crowley!!!!!! SHUT UP. it sounds like my lu.
okay. i don't love the ending. i like that we finally see crowley's gooey center on full display and aziraphale finally accepts how important crowley is to him, but idk. it felt too quick of a resolution. they spent 6000+ years dancing around their feelings for each other and putting the world/humanity first, but 2-3 years apart and suddenly they're open books professing love and their true desires ? hmph.
i saw someone talk about thinking crowley and aziraphale were gonna write a new book of life and i absolutely did too ! a forced proximity thing as they try to rebuild the humanity they spent so long loving. they mentioned maybe god was gonna be the omnipresent power of creation rather than a being and the moral was that humanity was worth protecting even with all its flaws, that love transcends. i think i like that better than what we got.
