Spencer 3x13, 3x14
3x13:
- The morning after, the liars are walking down the streets and talk about their costumes for the Halloween train. Hannah asks Spencer to give her a hint about her costume, but she remains mum. They decided to pick a character from a movie and surprise each other. They walk through Halloween decorations and the others ask Hannah how’s Caleb. She says he’s getting better, but it was easier when he was in the hospital, as now they have to stay under the radar. Then she mentions her mum and pastor Ted, who are spending the Halloween night together. Suddenly Emily notices that someone among their Halloween decorations places a fake Alison’s grave in their yard. Shocked, she gets close to it to remove it, but someone jumps out and scares her. The liars defend Emily and leave.
- Later, people are arriving at the Halloween train. There’s fake fog, and Lucas takes pictures. Hannah [...] gets inside and she meets Aria [...]. Noel and Jenna approach them.[...] Spencer and Toby arrive, dressed as sexy movie characters from the forties. Spencer goes to say hi to her friends, who ask her if Garrett came back, and she says no. His phone has also been disconnected. Noel makes a joke about food and throws a peanut in his own throat. Then he starts coughing. At first the girls think he’s joking, but Toby asks what’s wrong. As he keeps coughing and seems about to choke, the liars seems more concerned and Jenna shouts Toby to do something. Toby tries to make him breath, but he lays down. Spencer also goes to help but, as everybody seems more worried than ever, a little devil jumps out of his chest: it was all a prank. Everybody, including Jenna, laughs, while the liars and Toby are quite nauseated. After a moment, Emily and Paige arrive. After them arrives Jason, dressed as James Dean. Spencer tries to go talk to him, but there’s too much people around, so she goes with Toby towards the upcoming show.
- The ghost train is about to leave and the liars enter in a dark room, with Toby and Paige. The show starts and it’s a concert by Adam Lambert. A lot of people is there too.
- Adam Lambert is still singing and the girls and their partners are dancing and enjoying it. The baby monster is on the back of the crowd. Someone dressed as a Phantom of the Opera hits on Hannah, who kicks him away.
- Spencer walks through the train. Jason stops her, asking if she’s following him. She says she saw him and wanted to know if he’s ok. He says he is. He adds he was going to come by and see her this afternoon, but then he noticed Garrett was there. He thinks that just because he’s free it doesn’t mean he’s innocent. Lucas looks at them and then leaves the room. Jason excuses himself and then follows Lucas.
- Spencer is in a deserted corridor as well. She hears someone murmuring Mona’s song and she gets curious. Suddenly the baby monster mask appears and shuts her mouth, taking her somewhere else. It is Garrett, who talks to her. He says he’s sorry, because he liked her and she was the one he wanted to protect. He says he thought he had everything under control, but he didn’t even know what the game was truly about. Spencer asks him if he killed Alison. He says he’s going to tell her everything he knows and then he’s leaving and Spencer can’t try to find him. She accepts the deal. He says that the night of Alison’s murder all of them where in her room, and then Ian showed up. Spencer interrupts him, saying she’s seen that tape. He says he took Jenna outside, to leave Ian and Melissa figure things out. He took her behind the Dilaurentis house, where the ground was dug up. Flashback: Jenna and Garrett are quickly walking, when Jenna tells him they shouldn’t have left those two there alone, and they can’t trust them. Garrett says there’s nothing they can’t do without screwing themselves up. Ali is there and she reminds Jenna that she ordered her not to come back. Ali touches Jenna’s hair, and Jenna slaps her. Garrett tells Ali to stop it, and she tells him to go back to his camera club. Jenna picks up a fight with Ali, and Garrett tries to separate them. He tells Ali to leave, but she reminds him that’s her backyard. Then she pushes Jenna until she falls. Garrett helps her to get back standing and stops her from hitting Ali. Ali provokes them, asking if they didn’t find what they were looking for in her bedroom. Jenna tells Garrett to do something. He pretends to hit Ali with an hockey stick, but, as she bends down, he just hits the tree behind her twice. Jenna asks him if she’s dead. Ali puts her finger on her mouth, to tell Garrett not to say anything. Jenna asks him again if she’s dead, and he replies he took care of it and takes her away. Ali, alone, takes a breath and looks at the hockey stick, which, at this point, is still intact. Back to present day, Garrett tells Spencer that he didn’t kill Alison, but Jenna thinks he did. Spencer asks him if that’s it. He says there’s more, as later that night he went back. flashback: Garrett goes back behind the Dilaurentis house and hears Alison saying he’s not the one who makes people do this things. She tells the other person that if they don’t pay for their mistakes, how are they going to become a better person. A man tells her that she says all these grown up things, but she’s still a child. It’s Byron Montgomery! Alison reminds him he knows what she’s capable of. Garrett hides behind the bushes, just as Ali and Byron look in that direction. Back to present day, Spencer tells Garrett he must be lying. He asks why would he lie. She asks him why didn’t he say anything when they arrested him. He says he would have, but Spencer’s mum got him cleared. He says that that night he didn’t see more, as he left after they heard him. Spencer says she’s going to get Aria and he’ll have to say that to her face. She tells him to stay there, and he just replies “where would I have to go?”. She leaves.
- Hannah and Caleb look at each other in a party room in the train and smile. Spencer arrives and asks Hannah if she’s seen Aria. They look at where she was seating earlier and her place is empty, but her clutch is there. They start to worry, especially since they notice an A on the window, where Aria wrote her name for Adam Lambert and A subsequently erased “ria”. A message arrives on Aria’s phone and it says: “Guess who won’t make it to the end of the line? –A”. The girls look around worried.
- Emily goes through the train, reaches Spencer and Hannah and tells them she couldn’t find Aria on the train. Spencer thinks she must be there somewhere. Hannah asks Spencer about the crazy stuff Garrett told her, and Emily asks what crazy stuff. Spencer tells her Garrett said he saw Aria’s dad with Ali the night she was killed. Emily questions whether they should trust him, and Spencer asks why would he lie. Hannah replies to mess with them, just as everybody does. Spencer reminds them that Garrett is leaving town because he’s afraid of something or someone and that’s what he thought they needed to know. Emily just says that no one can get out of the train while it’s moving, so they have to find Aria. Spencer says they have to find Paige and Toby as well, and Hannah tells her friend that Caleb is on the train as well. Spencer tells her to warn him. Then they separate: Spencer goes one way, Hannah and Emily another.
- Spencer is walking through the dark train, when she finds the baby monster’s mask on the ground. She takes it, but suddenly someone dresses in a Queen of Hearts costume attacks her. They fight, and the person tries to strangle her. She runs away a bit, but the Queen of Hearts follow her and they fight hard, until Paige arrives and helps Spencer to kick away the other person. Paige asks Spencer who was that, but she obviously doesn’t know. Then Paige finds a fake nail in Spencer’s hair. It looks like the Queen of Hearts lost it.
- Hannah is with Spencer and she asks her if she thinks it’s a good idea to tell Paige everything, and Spencer replies she pretty much knew it already. Then she asks Hannah where’s Caleb, and she says he’s at the front of the train with Toby. They’re going to walk their way through them, to see if they can find Aria. Spencer asks Hannah if she’s ok and if she knows what the double costume mean. Hannah realized it means that even if she and Caleb were sneaking around, they didn’t fool anyone. Then she asks Spencer if she thinks Garrett was telling the truth. Spencer doesn’t answer, but instead compares the fake nail of the Queen of Hearts to Hannah’s nail, which prompts Hannah to say it must be a big girl. Spencer answers that maybe it’s not a girl at all. Emily and Paige arrive. Spencer reminds Paige to go at the front of the train to meet the boys, while they’ll get at the end and they all will meet in the middle. Then she thanks Paige and they separate. Paige says it was a pleasure.
- Spencer, Emily and Hannah are going through the train. At some point, there’s a glass door that’s blocked, but Emily finds Aria’s necklace on the ground, so Hannah gets a fire extinguisher to break the door.
- The girls arrive in the room where Aria is hidden in the box, keep her from falling, close the door and free their friend. They also notice Garrett’s corpse in the box. They hug.
- At the train, the liars are in the almost emptied party room with the police. Toby, Paige, Caleb, Jenna, Noel, Lucas and Jason are also there. Toby tells Spencer the police wants to take statements before letting them go home. Then he asks her if she’s ok. Aria comes back, after they medicated her wrist. She tells her friends that she doesn’t believe a word Garrett said, and her dad had nothing to do with Ali. Emily asks why should they believe him. Hannah points out that A probably did kill Garrett. They wonder why and if that was the whole point, to get them to do things that would let Garrett free, out of jail, so they could kill him. Emily and Aria point out that now two members of the NAT club and two people who were in Ali’s room the night she was killed have been murdered. They wonder what to tell the cops, and Spencer says as little as possible. Hannah notices how crazy the situation is, because everybody in that room had something to do with Garrett Reynolds. In that moment, Ezra arrives. [...] Noel, followed by Jenna, goes to ask the liars why don’t they tell the cops who did it, so all of them can go home. Jenna, Noel, Spencer and Hannah bicker a little, until Toby intervenes to defend Spencer from Noel. Toby and Noel discuss, and Jason gets closer to possibly intervene. Toby pushes Noel down, and, while falling, Noel takes down the big refrigerator with the drinks inside. In the middle of all the ice, a body bag emerges. Everybody is shocked, and Lucas takes a picture with his vintage camera.
3x14:
- Aria and Spencer are at The Brew and talk about Mona. Spencer wonders if Mona could tell them something about Garrett’s death, or if she knows if it’s connected to the NAT club. Aria reminds her friend that the NAT club was going on while she was still Loser Mona, but Spencer thinks Mona could have been spying on them. Then she asks Aria if she ever asked her dad about what Garrett said. Aria gets upset and says she’s finally getting along with her dad, so she’s not going to ruin it for something Garrett said. He said a lot of lies, so why should they suddenly believe anything he said.
- Emily arrives at school with Aria and Spencer and tells her about her dad’s alarm system. She says her parents are trying to get information out of her about what happened lately, but she isn’t telling much. Hannah arrives too, and she tells her friends she told Mona she’d be around. Emily thinks maybe they should all be Mona’s friend and ask her if she knows why Garrett was killed just after he told that story about Aria’s dad. Spencer tries to stop her, but aria gets upset again and asks if now they’re going to wonder if her dad was on the Halloween train too. She asks if they actually believe her own dad would drug her and lock her in a box. As she turns around to get inside school, she notices Mona, standing there and smiling like she’s the most innocent person ever. Mona tells her hi, Aria looks at her angrily and gets in, and Mona gives her a strange look.
- Later, everyone’s in class and Meredith is teaching history. Aria is texting and Meredith notices it. She tells everybody that cellphones are not allowed with her. She asks Aria to give her hers, not to be tempted. She explains a little bit more, then the bell rings. Mona was very observant during the whole scene. When everybody leaves, Meredith asks Aria to stay for a minute, and Spencer, Hannah and Emily stay with her. Meredith tells them that she has a job to do, and if they want to graduate, so do them. She gives Aria her phone back, then wishes the girls to have a nice day.
- Out of the class, Hannah reaches Mona and tells her she couldn’t leave Aria. They arrive at Mona’s locker and, as she opens it, they are scared to death by a cow brain stuck on the door with a big knife. Everybody else, including Aria, Spencer and Emily, watches, in shock. Mona takes out the knife with the brain attached to it and holds it. She goes towards the bin, with the people around taking pictures and filming. Lucas and Jason are in the crowd as well. Mona throws the brain in the bin, then turns around and holds the knife high. She looks around and everybody’s scared, then she drops the knife in the bin, goes to murmur something in Lucas’s ear, goes back to her locker, picks up her books and leaves. Hannah goes straight to Lucas to ask him what did she say to him and who did that, but he seems to upset, doesn’t say anything and just leaves. Hannah notices he’s limping.
- Emily, Aria and Spencer go in the bathroom to discuss what just happened. Apparently someone stole the brain from the laboratory. Emily is worried people are going to think it was them, but Spencer says they were with Meredith, so it must be obvious to everybody it wasn’t them. Emily doesn’t trust Meredith as an alibi. They keep discussing Mona, but she suddenly arrive. As she looks at herself in the mirror, Emily asks her if she knows they didn’t have anything to do with it. Mona says she knows, and why would she do it, after Mona helped her. Emily asks what does she mean and Mona replies she helped her figure out who the creep was who killed her girlfriend. Then Mona adds that she knows she has to re-earn the girls’ trust. She says she’s better now and leaves.
- Spencer is sitting on a table in the courtyard, having lunch with Toby. They agree on running together after school. He explains he didn’t reply to her message the night before because he fell asleep early and didn’t read it. Spencer asks him if he thinks Jenna transferred school after Garrett was killed because she was scared she was going to be next. Toby is upset and asks her why she keeps obsessing about it. Spencer replies she just can’t stop, since the police still has no idea who killed Garrett and how. Then she sees Mona and Jason hugging and acting like he’s consoling her, and she feels disgusted. Toby tries to scold her again, but she protests.
- Spencer and Toby arrive back in front of her house after their run. He offers to prepare the hot tub, but Spencer sees Jason arriving and goes to talk to him. She asks him what’s going on with him and Mona. He doesn’t answer and she tells him to be careful. Toby starts approaching and Jason looks at him. Then he asks what is he missing. Spencer says Mona is dangerous. Jason keeps looking at them and interrupts Spencer, who replies that Toby can hear, since he knows what Mona did. She says Mona can’t be trusted, but Jason answers that people used to say the same thing about him, so he likes to give people the benefit of the doubt. He thanks Spencer for the tip and gets home. Toby looks at him focused and mad.
- Spencer and Toby get in the Hastings’ hot tub in the Hastings’ backyard. Spencer is nervous, and Toby asks her what is she thinking about. She tries to deny, but then asks why doesn’t Jason get that Mona is dangerous. Toby seems distressed and says Jason is a big boy and can take care of himself. Spencer replies that he has no one to get his back, while she has Toby and her friends. Then she hears a noise in the bushes and asks if someone’s out there. Toby looks at her very upset and creepy. Spencer is too nervous and goes back inside.
- People at school are watching Mona’s video as well. Caleb and Aria are at a stand [...]. Hannah arrives chilling out with her grandma, and says hi to Spencer, who goes to say hi to Hannah’s grandma.
- The coach starts explaining the rules of the run, and Hannah’s marathon interrupts her, volunteering to sing the national anthem. She just grabs the microphone and does it. Mona observes around. Spencer shows Aria and Hannah what they could do to get back to school unseen and explore creepy Harold’s room. Hannah tells the others she thinks Mona was on the Halloween train that night. The coach interrupts Hannah’s grandma’s song and gives the starting shoot.
- Emily is trying to open Harold’s door at school, when the others arrive. Spencer manages to get the door open and they get in. Inside they don’t see all of Mona’s stuff as Emily and Hannah previously saw it, but notice that there’s a diary. They recognize it as the book Harold was writing on. It looks like he was writing a long letter to Mona because he thought that was her diary, but from the first pages it’s clear it was Ali’s.
- At Hannah’s request, Spencer recognizes the diary as the one she saw in A’s lair. They read a bit and then ask Aria if what Ali was writing is about her dad. Flashback: Ali is in Byron Montgomery’s office, looking outside. She just asked him for more money. He says he won’t give it to her, because Meredith is out of her life and it’s in the past. Alison points out that it did happen, though. She asks him what would happen if a student called the dean and told him that Meredith was flipping out because one of her professor had an affair with her and left her. She then threatens to call Ella, and in fact she digits the number. Byron stops her, by taking her wrist with his strength. Alison says maybe she’ll do it when she’s alone. Byron starts freaking out and says he can’t give her that kind of money without Ella noticing. Alison replies he can take some time figuring it out, since she’s going to visit her nana. She says she’ll be back Labor Day weekend, asking if that works for him. In Byron’s eyes there’s terror. Alison leaves. Back to present day, Aria is under shock. They hear a noise and decide to leave the diary there, but Aria takes a page out of it. Out of the room, Harold stops them and asks what were they doing there. Spencer says they had to go to the bathroom, and they get past him. Harold, though, takes the diary page from Aria’s hand. She asks him to give it back to her, but he refuses. Toby suddenly arrives and asks them if everything’s fine. Aria takes the diary page back and they leave. As they get out of school, they thank Toby, who says he went to the end of the run earlier and saw them get in from the back door. Suddenly, a fire starts and they hear screams.
- Jason is sipping a drink on his porch. Spencer arrives and says hi. He tells her he heard he missed fireworks at the end of the race, and Spencer points out that Mona walked out without a scratch. Jason interrupts her, saying he hears her this time (about her advises about Mona). Spencer is relieved and turns around to go home. She receives a call from Aria, who tells her that A set them up, sending Meredith to the shed that then got on fire. Spencer asks if it was Mona, then offers Aria if she wants to come over to her place, but Aria replies her father is never letting that happen. In the meantime, Byron is eavesdropping.
