Crystal was the best of the bracket for sure and my second would be Aura. Silky and Salina tied for third for me. I don’t find Salina’s drag appealing unfortunately…
Violet is technically has latin heritage, but she doesn’t really represent that in her drag.
Who are latin competitors in recent seasons you think should have been crowned?
I believe Violet herself has said that she is white/that she was socialized as white, and that she has no real connection to her Latina heritage (I believe she’s part Ecuadorian). But even if she didn’t disclaim being representation for Latinos, she’s white passing and like you said, she doesn’t really celebrate being Latina as part of her drag. And that’s what I mean. We need Latina representation, and Violet just isn’t that
As far as Latina queens who could’ve or should’ve won their seasons, that’s a sorta loaded question because there’s a lot of them. These will probably sound like hot takes because their official track records likely don’t compare on paper to who actually “won,” but the truth is that’s because these queens are paid dust throughout their runs, so they don’t get wins they deserve, they are forced to lip sync when they shouldn’t, whereas the folks who won their seasons didn’t get the same mistreatment (i.e., they won things they shouldn’t have, they were saved from lip syncing, or they lost lip syncs but were saved anyway, etc.). So without going through and explaining that in detail for each queen, here’s my list off the top of my head:
AS8: Jessica Wild (Jimbo was saved a lot and Jessica deserved more wins throughout and had no business being cut at the top three)
AS9: Roxxxy (and to a lesser extent, Jorgeous)
S17: Jewels (this one is more debatable since Onya really killed it, but she should’ve won or placed in the top for way more challenges throughout and/or could’ve tied for the win in several challenges, and on the flip side, Onya was saved both from lip syncing in the Betsy challenge and from being eliminated in the makeover)
AS10: Jorgeous (I don’t need to justify this one, we were all there)
S18: Juicy (she should’ve won the makeover and the Karen challenge, she had no business being eliminated, and she would’ve dominated the finale performances and lip sync, which is exactly why they eliminated her)
AS11: TBD, Crystal could win, but Morphine and Salina were both overlooked for challenge wins
This isn’t to say the queens who won these seasons are gutter bucket or whatever. But if the judging and editing cared at all about paying respect to queer Latino artistry, then any of these queens could’ve won
