Bridge Closures
The Mooney, Coral District, and Robert Kane Memorial Bridges will close from 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 and will reopen at 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.
Crews are performing essential maintenance to all the bridges as well as checking the structures for any vulnerabilities. Both the Mooney and Kane Bridge are among the most heavily used bridges in Gotham and officials have expressed worry about the increase of cargo truck usage in recent years.
Crews will actively be restripping and paving the bridges as well as erecting new barrier walls on both Coral District Bridges.
Officials also warn that all bridges connecting to Arkham Island will also be closed for twelve hours. Visitors to the island are encouraged to postpone their visits until Sunday, October 19, 2014.
Residents and visitors will have numerous alternatives for getting around Gotham while the bridges are closed. GET (Gotham Express Transit) officials recommend the use of the transit system recommending Embarcadero Station as a transfer point to Coral District residents and West Bristol and Pike Station for Bristol residents. The ferries between Somerset and Bristol County will continue to run on schedule.
Officials discourage the use of both the bike and pedestrian pathways during this construction.
Motorists should allow extra time for travel around the areas of the Coral District, Somerset, Chinatown, Gotham Proper, Crest Hill, and Bristol County.

Traffic Warning
Officials from the Gotham City Bureau of Street Services are issuing a warning that the Brown Bridge and Trigate Bridge are currently down for routine construction. Commuters are encouraged to use the Mooney Bridge or the ferries.
Heavy traffic is expected in and around the areas of Gotham Proper as significant roadwork has begun within the District. Commuters are asked to minimize traffic congestion by avoiding construction areas or seeking alternate methods of travel.
Delays are to be expected.

Can you give us an idea of what it's like over there right now?
Chaos.
There’s no other word to describe it. The dust has yet to completely settle and the noise around the site is deafening.
Dogs barking.
Workers yelling out names.
The outgoing sound of sirens as someone else is transported to the hospital.
Most of the workers here haven’t slept in more than 24 hours and that will not be changing anytime soon since efforts are going around the clock to save as many people as possible from the wreckage.
But the conditions we are experiencing here don’t particularly matter in comparison to the situation the loved ones of all those trapped underneath the rubble that was once Wayne Tower are currently living. Volunteers are doing there part, but we can only do so much.
The community in large needs to come to the aid of those trapped here -whether its through blood donations or aid to the overworked volunteers. Every little bit goes towards one more person returning to their loved one.

Wayne Tower Collapse
At least 12 dead and over two dozen have been reported injured after Wayne Tower collapsed early Sunday afternoon. The collapse was declared a mass casualty incident upon arrival by first responders. Police officers have sealed off the site and have established a twelve block perimeter stretching as far back as Kane and 39th while paramedics and firefighters have set up triage stations and established temporary morgue around the site.
More bodies are being rescued from the rubble and the toll count is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue. The interim mayor has already solicited aid from neighboring police and fire departments and the governor is expected to release a statement sometime today.
The iconic building which has been a landmark of the city’s skyline since the 1900’s was 106 stories tall and measured over 1,700 feet. The building had been closed for the day which attributes to the low body count. Wayne Enterprises has yet to release an official statement in regards to the collapse.
Police are asking citizens to stay away from the site and are directing family members of those lost in the collapse to a tent set up on 40th and Kane to report missing loved ones. They are also recommending that they bring pictures and articles of clothing to help in the search.
