Charming
Pairing: Pippin Took x Fem! hobbit reader
Warnings: Nope!
Due to Pippin touching the PalantĂr and thus revealing his location to Sauron, Gandalf had to rush to Gondor with the hobbit tucked under his arm. Clearly the Dark Lord would assume that Pippin had the ring so it was almost the only option to take the hobbit somewhere else and this was the most obvious one since Gandalf was headed to Minas Tirith either way.
Gandalfâs displeasure with Pippinâs undying curiosity was very clear. The wizard was very vocal about it, you see. But still he was glad that Sauron wasnât exposed to any sort of sensitive information that could be vital to the group and at this point to the whole Middle-Earth. Including the Shire and certain hobbits that lived thereâŚ
When they arrived, Pippin had noted how beautiful the city of Kings was. It was really something that Pippin couldnât have imagined even in his wildest dreams. If only Merry was there to see it! Or perhaps even (Y/n). She would absolutely love the city and its unique architecture. Always so curious and eager she was.
Now Pippin sat on a wooden bench in one of the many marbled halls of the city. The hobbit was both mentally and vocally scolding himself for promising to grant his life to Denethor in a rush of the moment whilst meeting the steward.
âWhat service can a hobbit offer for such a great lot of men⌠â the small hobbit wondered out loud, pursing his lips.
âIt was well done,â someone said as they walked in through the decorated arch. Pippin turned to look at the man whose voice had interrupted his not so inner monologue.
The tiny hobbit jumped up from the wooden bench turning his whole body towards the auburn haired man who he recognized as Faramir.
âA generous deed should not be checked with cold counsel. You are to join the Tower Guard,â the man continued looking quite impressed with the small hobbit standing before him. Pippin had Tower Guard attire on him, given to him by Denethorâs orders. The outfit consisted of a chainmail shirt with a dark velvet tunic on top. It had silver linings and the White tree pictured in the middle. A belt rested around his waist, his sword attached to it. Some sort of boots were probably also part of the attire but obviously for a hobbit those would have been unlikely piece to wear, gifted or not.
âI didnât think they would find any livery that would fit me. I do really like the way it looks though,â Pippin stated feeling a little bit shy. The Gondorian smiled at the hobbit.
âIt once belonged to a young boy of the City. A very foolish one who wasted many hours slaying dragons instead of attending to his studies,â the man explained and a wide smile made its way across Pippinâs face.
âThis was yours?â the hobbit asked and Faramir nodded.
âYes, it was mine, my father had it made for me,â he said while fixing the sleeve of the velvety tunic.
âWell Iâm taller than you were back then. Though Iâm likely to not grow anymore, except sideways,â the hobbit joked successfully making the Gondorian laugh out loud.
Pippin then looked down on his outfit, taking in all the details and feeling the fabric of his hem between his fingers.
âI wonder if (Y/n) would find it charmingâŚâ Pippin didnât mean to say it out loud really but he was never that good in keeping his thoughts to himself. Faramir raised his brow in curiosity, surprised by this sudden mention of a supposed maiden he had never heard of before.
âWho is this (Y/n) if I may ask? It is someone you hold very important to yourself I assume,â Faramir wondered and Pippin grinned widely, seeming very proud.
â(Y/n) has been a dear friend of mine since childhood! We always used to get in trouble with her and Merry when we were still wee hobbits heh. She doesnât participate in our trickâs as much but we have still remained very close over the years. â
The hobbit was suddenly hit with different sorts of emotions. It was overwhelming enough to almost make him cry. After talking about (Y/n) out loud for the first time in months he realised just how much he missed her. Of course he had thought about the hobbit maiden and wondered how she was doing but only now he realised how deep his longing went.
A picture of her popped into the hobbitâs head. It was her working outside in her motherâs garden, different sorts of wildflowers garnishing her beautiful (h/c) hair that was always put in some neat style. Wind would brush it and make it wave gorgeously, her pointed ears revealing underneath the (h/c) locks.
â(Y/n) is really great you know! She always offers to help with my laundry and gives me the first tastings of her baked goods. She smells like lavender and thyme. Very pleasing scents if you ask me! I really wonder how she is doing⌠Hope she hasnât forgotten about me- erm, us,â Pippin rambled trying to distract himself from crying not even realising all the things he was saying and Faramir listened to every word. It almost seemed like the captain knew more about Pippinâs feelings than the hobbit even realised himself.
The hobbit maidenâs laugh was something Pippin had always adored. No matter if you were laughing at him or something else it always managed to put a smile on his own face. Your laugh was definitely different and unique, it kind of reminded Pippin of bells.
Faramir looked at Pippin with deep understanding. He had seen how the hobbitâs face dropped like a leaf in autumn after talking about the hobbit maiden. Putting his gloved hand on Pippinâs shoulder he gave it a firm squeeze.
âI doubt that she would have forgotten you.I think she would love this look on you. You must wear it once meeting her again,â the captain said and Pippin smiled, brushing the tears which were about to fall with the back of his hand.
The hobbit really hoped he survived this war so that he could get back to you.
~~~~
You were putting your hair (h/c) up in the style you knew Pippin liked the most. How did you know it was his favourite? Because whenever you wore it he would comment how nice it looked.
Placing some of the flowers that were from your motherâs garden on your head, you stared at yourself from the mirror. You did this every day.
You would always wear the cleanest clothes you had at the time, pinched your cheeks for a natural blush, make your hair and paint your luscious lips with some wildberries. Why?
Because deep in your heart you hoped for Pippinâs and otherâs return. And you wanted to look your best once they did! They were all very close to you of course, but you had always harboured even deeper feelings for the youngest hobbit lad. It was a long time before the four even disappeared but you were too stubborn to confess. You kind of hoped Pippin would have done something to indicate he shared those feelings before you went and made a fool out of yourself. His sudden disappearance had broken your heart but still you kept your hopes up and walked to the borders of Shire, wishing to see him and others return back home.
Days of waiting turned into weeks and then weeks turned into months. But you were patient even when others gossiped and said how they were probably dead. You didnât believe that so you still kept putting your hair up in the style you knew Pippin favoured.
You hopped up from your chair that stood in front of the wooden vanity and made your way towards the lounge room where your father was. His feet were resting on a velvety tuffet as he read some papers, a pipe hanging loosely from his lips. Noticing your presence he stared at you from under his silver-rimmed spectacles.
âMy daughter always looking so put together. You do know that it catches a lot of attention especially from the lads?â he asked, chuckling which made you roll your eyes.
âI donât care if it catches their attention, I am not doing it for them!â you exclaimed, crossing your arms. There was only one hobbit flying around your mind when you put your best effort into your outlook. Your father sighed and took his reading glasses off.
âI know sweet pie, your optimism truly mesmerizes me! I would have given up on all the four of them ages ago if you didnât manage to convince every day that they will come back,â the old hobbit said, shaking his head. You walked up to your dad and gave a small kiss on his forehead.
âThey will be back, just like Bilbo years ago. I just know it!â
As you and your old man chuckled together, your mother busted in wheezing like a whistle.
âThey are back! Oh my dear lord they are back!â she yelled out her eyes wide like platters. Your father seemed flabbergasted. You on the other hand had your mouth hanging.
âOh good gracious my dear, catch your breath! Who's back?â he asked while standing up and grasping your mother by her elbow and patting her back.
Before your mother could answer, you had rushed past them and out the door. Trying to run as fast but also as carefully as possible, you made your way towards the road you presumed they would have arrived on. There was no other possibility! It had to be Pippin and others.
Soon two figures caught your eye and you recognised the two hobbits immediately.
âFRODO! SAM!â
Your yelling easily caught their attention and a wide smile ascended on their faces. You ran straight to Frodo (which made him let out an âoofâ sound) giving him a huge bear hug which he returned to immediately.
âItâs so good to see you fellows!â you breathed out, quickly hugging Sam as well. The two let out a happy sigh, really glad to be home.
âLikewise (Y/n),â Sam said. Pulling back from the hug you tried to look behind Sam and goggle around the area, trying to find Pippin and Merry with your eyes. Frodo seemed to realise this as he started to talk.
âMerry already went home. Pippin on the other hand talked about going to see you so I would presume he is at your place now.â
You hit your face amused. You and Pippin had somehow managed to travel past each other! How silly that was? You quickly said thanks to Frodo before waving goodbye to the two.
You ran all the way to your house, making sure that not even one flower fell from your locks. As you closed the hill your cozy home was located in, you saw your parents at the door talking to⌠Pippin! It truly was him.
It felt like time slowed as Pippin turned around and your eyes met. He looked like he lacked air as he went completely stiff as he saw you. Your feet carried you towards him as fast as they could and when you finally reached him your arms almost automatically wrapped around his frame. With no second thoughts, his arms were around you immediately as well. He sighed happily, so glad to hold you again.
It was an amazing feeling as he breathed in your scent that felt so lovely. It almost felt like he had ascended back into a dream, the best dream he could ever have!
The two older hobbits decided to leave the two of you alone and went back inside, knowing smiles on their faces.
You let go of Pippin and stared at him tears of happiness about to fall from your eyes. The other hobbit seemed like his eyes were watery as well.
âI canât believe you are here! I mean⌠I knew you four would be back, but I didnât expect it today- Are you taller than before?â you rambled holding on to the other hobbits hands who chuckled.
âI was always tall! But yes I canât believe we made it home either,â Pippin told, sighing deeply. The feeling of being here again felt amazing and he felt relieved that you hadnât forgotten him. Pippin looked at you, admiring your appearance.
You looked so beautiful and radiant, your cheeks pink hued, hair decorated and reddish lips. You also had a beautiful blue skirted dress that matched his velvety outfit he had kept on as they left Gondor, Faramirâs words in his mind.
âYour hair looks nice,â he said and blushed almost immediately realising how weird that most likely sounded. You only giggled at him.
âWhy thank you! I have to say I do like your outfit, itâs certainly different!â you said, looking him up and down. Pippin puffed his chest slightly, feeling very proud and confident by your praise, though the blush didnât falter away from his cheeks.
âDo you? It is from a friend of mine! It is quite charming isnât it?â Pippin asked and you nodded heartily examining all the beautiful detailing.
âTruly! Oh, Pippin itâs so good to have you all back! You do have to tell me everything that happened,â you pleaded with clear excitement beaming on your face which made Pippinâs heart melt. The hobbit stared at your hand that was still holding his and went shy again.
âUhm- Yes! Of course I will! But I shall tell you something before that! Itâs⌠something very important.â
You looked at Pippin with curiosity swirling in your eyes, some kind of hope flaming up in your chest. Could this be the thing you imagined it to be?
âYes, what is it?â you asked almost on the tip of your toes. Pippin then took a hold of your other hand as well. Breathing in some confidence he looked straight into your (e/c) eyes.
âWe have been friends since the beginning but during this journey I was in I⌠I realised that perhaps I do wish for something more and that is eh- that is⌠â you stared at the hobbit feeling your own breath now cut short, excitement filling your whole body. Unable to wait for the obviously struggling Pippin to finish what he was about to say, you decided to do it for him.
âYou wish to be my mate?â
A foolish looking grin appeared on Pippinâs face but it was soon replaced with confusion.
âYes, yes thatâs exactly what I wish for but how did you-â giving no chance for Pippin you pulled him into a tight hug laughing happily giving him a small peck on the apple of his cheeks, leaving him beet red.
âOh Pippin! I have hoped for this for so long! You donât even know how long I have had the same feelings for you!â
Pippin stared at you, his skin flaming red. He felt like he was on fire and you were the sun that was warming his whole body up with your smile and words. Without thinking he kissed you on the lips.
It was an impulsive thing to do but so was most of the things he did. The kiss was very short and sloppy but you two enjoyed every second of it. As he pulled away, he was almost as red as a tomato, making you giggle a lot. It was the sound that could always make him feel better, no matter if he was the reason you were laughing for. He started to smile his toothy grin feeling so lucky to be here alive and have your affection.
Your parentâs were spying from the window, sharing approving nods, they always hoped this would happen. They didnât care too much if Pippin was a little rascal, as long as you were happy. Besides, he seemed a lot more mature anyway since he and others returned.
âSo, when do you think we have to start working on the wedding?â your mother voiced out to your father who only shook his head as you and Pippin shared yet another kiss.
Imagine being Thorin's spouse and Thranduil being curious about you
Thorin and you were separated from the rest of the group presumably by the orders of king.
You watched as your friends and companions were taken away somewhere else and your stomach twisted in worry. Thorin who remained on your side gave you an assuring nod as the two of you were taken before the king.
He really looked the part, you noted in your head. He was mighty and noble looking as he sat on his throne, rich garments layering his body and an unique crown placed on his head. The dwarf looked at the elf with disgust when this stood up and started to circle around the pair.
"Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand, a quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon," the elven king started with.
"I myself suspect a more prosaic motive. Attempted burglary. Or something of that ilk," the elf continued. You felt slightly offended by his words, knowing more than well enough what he was hinting at. Deciding to not listen from that on you looked around the place, trying to seek a way out of there.
Suddenly Thranduil turned his gaze at you, deep interest sparking in his eyes.
"And you. Why is a mere human a part of this company of dwarves? What gain do you have from all of this?" he asked, coming too close to your bubble.
"Leave them alone you elf-scum!" Thorin growled out to Thranduil who only ignored the pissed looking dwarf, still awaiting for your answer.
Glancing quickly at Thorin, you leaned your head to the side, enough for the elf king to see a braid with a silver bead attached to it appear.
"I am a part of this company because I wanted to remain by my One's side and see how he and my friends reclaim their home. Now if you excuse me, could you get off of my face?" You said with a confident grin plastered on your face. Thranduil pulled back away from you, with a look that may had either been of surprise or just plain disgust. Thorin chuckled feeling proud and impressed by your words. You truly were his One.
Imagine having a fight with your parents and Aragorn comforting you after
You cried on Aragorn's chest as you were buried in his embrace. You were frustrated with your parents and yourself, why did everything always have to end in a fight?
Aragorn shushed you while leaving a small and loving peck on the crown of your head.
"Itâs alright. I know how defeating fights like these feel like but you will get through this. Just let it all out," the ranger comforted rubbing your back gently.
You hiccubed, tightening your grasp on Aragorn. Little by little you started to calm down as you knew that you were okay and safe there in his arms.
"Now my dear, may I ask why did you not tell me sooner?" the elven king asked from his seat not even slightly fazed by you coming out. You shifted awkwardly under his gaze.
"I don't know... I was afraid you might find it unacceptable?" you answered hesitantly. Thranduil seemed almost offended.
"My dearest! The only unacceptable thing is that you lack comfortable robes and other necessities. Let me seek out the best tailors of Greenwood and you may have anything you desire."
Author's note: Hello :) This is my first time writing a x reader fic after a while so I apologise if it's slightly bad (also I haven't used you pov in a while so for this fic I tried it and Idk how to feel). This is also my first time writing a trans character so if there is something that might be offensive please inform me! The reader is loosely based off of my OC but only plotwise. Hope you enjoy!
Pairings: Aragorn x mtf!reader, Peredhil!reader
Warnings: Mild transphobia (nothing severe), near death experience, mentions of blood
Music was blaring and people were dancing and rejoicing in their colorful clothing that matched their new king. The war was over and the white tree of Gondor had come back to life radiating it's beauty once again for the very first time in centuries.
Yes it was the celebration for Aragorn who had finally reclaimed his throne and became the king of Gondor. Everyone was delighted and happy and it was clearly seen on their faces as their pearly whites were glowing in the ballroom. Though it wasnât only the Gondorianâs who were celebrating, there were also other men, elves, dwarves and of course few hobbits who were there to honor the newly coronated king.
You were there as well in your elvish gown and silver jewelry. It was a close call that you couldnât make it as you were badly injured in the battle of the Black Gate. Everyone thought you were about to die but thankfully you were rushed to Rivendell and your Lord Elrond managed to heal and save you.
Eowyn was giggling next to you, her gaze on Faramir who was being danced around by people who were grateful for his fast recovery. You smiled as you met Faramirâs eyes briefly. He smiled at you gleefully before turning to look at Eowyn who giggled again, now flustered before waving at her partner to which Faramir returned with a nod.
The golden haired maiden then turned to you and grabbed your arm gently to catch your attention. You looked at her with a questioning look.
âSomebody has his eye on you again, my lady,â she said and nodded, gesturing to you to look towards the front of the hall. You did and your breath got stuck on your throat as your (e/c) eyes met with piercy blue ones. It was the fifth time today you saw him looking at you and you guessed Eowyn could say even a bigger number.
Quickly you turned to look at your companionâs green eyes.
âWe must leave. I need some fresh air,â you said and took Eowynâs arm in yours before making your way towards the huge doors that lead to the courtyard, leaving the pair of blue eyes to look at your back. It wasnât the first time he seemed like he was about to walk up to you and talk with you.
As you sat down on one of the white stony benches with Eowyn on your side, she grasped your shoulders tenderly.
âWhat is it (Y/n)? You have been avoiding Aragorn all day and he really seems like he would like to talk with you,â she said and you could hear the clear confusion in her voice. You sighed deeply, not exactly sure what to say, holding the soft arm of your friend that was laid on top of your clothed shoulder.
âI suppose I am afraid⌠â
Eowynâs beautiful face was covered in frown as she looked at you.
âWhat are you afraid of?â she asked. Turning to look at the beautiful sun that was about to set, you went deep into thought. What were you exactly afraid of? That was a good question as you werenât exactly sure how to put it in words yourself.
Something you hadnât told your golden haired friend was the last moments of the battle that you could remember yourself.
You were deeply wounded with your mind hazy, ears ringing and sight blurry, almost completely sure that your days were over. Someone lowered themselves next to you and pulled you in their embrace. Catching their warmth and familiar presence, you opened your eyes only to be met with the blue ones of your companion since the beginning of the Fellowship.
âAragorn⌠â
Your voice was barely louder than a whisper and the man whose hands were around your broken body only hushed you.
âDo not speak, you are deeply wounded,â Aragorn said while examining your wounds with small haste. He was alarmed by the amount of blood that was surrounding you and even more so when he studied the injuries that covered your body.
âDid⌠Did we win?â you asked weakly. Aragorn looked at you in warning, messaging that you should stay quiet to not exhaust yourself more, but soon smiled a little.
âYes (Y/n), we did. Now we have to get you out of here so you may be healed,â Aragorn said and looked around, trying to look for either Legolas or Gandalf so that he could call them for help. You laughed quietly catching his attention.
âI think itâs too late for that⌠But Iâm relieved to know it is over⌠â
Aragorn looked shocked at your words, almost not believing what you just said.
âPlease do not speak that way⌠We will get you help- â The words that had come out of his mouth were more and more unclear and you knew your end was near but surprisingly you werenât afraid. There you were, laying in the embrace of a man you had fallen in love with, too much of a coward to ever admit it to him or even yourself before this.
âAragorn I have to- I have to tell you something,â you said and he immediately quieted down worry written all over his face. You examined him as you took deep painful breaths of air. Even after battle he looked beautiful. His hair had partly fallen on his face, his lip was busted and he was covered in blood but still he managed to mesmerize you. Even when layered in all that Gondorian fabric and armour and newfound confidence, he was the same Aragorn that you had known for many years and had grown to love.
Weakly raising your hand to touch his face you smiled. Aragorn held your hand with his own and you could see that some tears were threatening to fall down from his eyes.
â I have known you for such a long time. I always admired you and- and looked up to you but I must admit that during our quest together I have fallen deeply in love with you. You shall become a great king⌠â
After your touching monologue, Aragorn could feel your body go limp. While still trying to process your words in his mind he catched Legolas walking around in the corner of his eye.
âLegolas! Boe de nestad!â
You had no idea how Aragorn had reacted to your confession or how he himself felt. To say the least you were quite terrified. Meanwhile the two of you were close friends and had common respect, you had no idea how he would have felt being with someone like you, especially now when he was king. During the quest with Fellowship where the two of you started to get closer for real, never once did he mention about your past and he always treated you the same as others.
And you were certain that Aragorn knew. Of course he knew. He was only a few years younger than you when the two of you still lived in Rivendell and while you two didnât talk to each other too much at the time, word moved around.
Elves werenât mean in nature but there were always some who thought of you as an odd one. Eru nor the Valar made no mistakes in their eyes so you being something now that you werenât when you were born was quite against their beliefs. But you had grown not to care.
Wherever you went, there were always people who had somehow heard of you and meanwhile some were accepting others not so much. Rude words and harsh names always followed you no matter where in Middle Earth you travelled to but you had learned to brush them off. Of course the words hurt deeply and made you insecure but in the end you were happy and loved yourself the way you were now so why would those people matter to you. Besides others like Gandalf and Elrond alongside his family have always accepted you so you always had the support of your loved ones.
But with Aragorn you werenât so sure. You had never really cared for romantic companionships so you never thought about it too much. But once you found yourself being infatuated with Aragorn you started to think about it. Maybe thatâs what you were afraid of. Being rejected by the only person you had fallen in love with for the sole reason of you being who you were.
You were scared that he would rip your heart out and grind it to dust so that you would be unable to love anyone ever again.
Turning to look at your friend again who had patiently waited for your response, you gave her hand a gentle squeeze. Eowyn was your closest friend since the two of you met in Edoras. You had confided in her one night and she accepted you wholeheartedly and never treated you differently even once. She loved you for who you were and you loved her.
âI am afraid of rejection I suppose. I did tell him I love him the day the ring was destroyed,â you explained a little uneasy. She looked slightly surprised after hearing this new piece of information, after all she had only joked about your crush on Aragorn back in Rohan, but quickly brushed it off finally realising the heaviness of the matter.
âI suppose you donât know how he reacted⌠Thatâs why you are avoiding him?â the golden haired woman asked and you nodded. She then caught you in her embrace and you wrapped your arms around her.
âAragorn is a great man. No matter what he thinks or feels he wonât belittle you or make you feel bad about yourself, trust me. Though I would bet on my arm that he loves you too, I did see the way he looked at you back in Rohan,â your friend said while stroking your back. You sighed and relaxed a little bit. Eowyn was right. Aragorn was a kindhearted man who had always treated you fairly so you didnât know why he would now treat you any different. You weighed out Eowynâs last words not really sure if to believe her or not but even if Aragorn didnât love you back you were certain it wasnât because of your differences.
You pulled back and looked at your friend who had a wide and encouraging smile painted on her face. It made you smile widely as well.
Soon Eowynâs gaze shifted from you to someone behind you. Turning around, almost certain that it was Faramir who was looking for Eowyn, you met the blue eyes that you were far too familiar with. Aragorn gave a small bow to which you and Eowyn returned with a nod.
âI apologise if I interrupted something,â he said and before you could say anything Eowyn answered for the both of you while standing up.
âNot at all, my king. I was just about to go and find Faramir.â
Aragorn smiled and nodded as Eowyn who turned around to look at you once more with a reassuring smile left. Looking at her back as she hurried inside her white dress swirling in the wind you failed to notice the man who now stood before you.
â(Y/n)â he said, his voice smooth and deep. You turned to look at him, feeling butterflies in your stomach from hearing him say your name. Finally seeing him from up close you studied him and his new attire.
He was wearing the robes of a royalty with the crown that was worn by the former kingâs of Gondor on his head. It was a beautiful mix of red and blue fabrics and silver and gold metals. His hair was in itâs natural waves that you rarely got to see as his hair was often untidy which was only understandable as he was always on the road before this. He looked so tidy and put together and so very beautiful as the last brilliant shines of the sun framed his form.
Finally you stood up and gave a tiny courtesy.
âMy king,â you said and paraded yourself for not sounding too nervous or formal. Aragorn only shook his hand in dismissal.
âPlease (Y/n), you know you may call me by my name,â he said and you finally met his eyes again. There was some sort of hidden emotion there that you couldnât read. But thatâs how he was, hard to read. You smiled.
âVery well. Is there something you wished to talk about?â you asked and you could sense how Aragorn went slightly uneasy. Your stomach dropped and you knew for certain what he wanted to talk about. Not like you couldnât guess it before but now it was for certain.
âThere is actually but it has felt like you have been avoiding me. May I ask the reason?â he said and he sounded just as calm as he usually did but some sort of hurt could be detected from his voice which made you feel guilty.
âI apologise⌠I didnât mean to make it seem that way, I suppose I was just a little nervous to talk to you,â you explained and turned to look at the sun once again. It had almost disappeared completely behind the horizon.
âWhy were you nervous?â Aragorn asked and stared at you with a fond expression.
Unbeknownst from you, he was a wreck from the inside. How could he have not been? Aragorn was almost certain you were dead or left to Valinor due to the severity of your wounds. It was hard to imagine losing yet another friend that he had held in his arms before their death but also the fact that you had declared your love towards him and he was unable to answer to you was ripping his guts.
Imagine his surprise and delight when he saw you in the crowd that day.
He had been dying to talk with you since he saw you at the coronation alive and well. You looked like an angel in your white dress and silver chains and he almost thought he was in a dream but once the two of you had touched each other's hands when it was your time to congratulate him, he knew he was right there and so were you. The man was busy the whole night but his gaze had found you multiple times and he knew Eowyn had noticed.
Legolas had demanded him to go and talk with you but it seemed like you always managed to run away from him when he tried to. It confused the ranger, it really did.
âI- Well you do remember what I said back at the Black Gate?â you asked hesitantly and he nodded asking for you to continue and you took a deep breath before going on. Now or never was the time to come clean.
âI was afraid of how you would react. I know that you know about my past since the older elves had a habit to always talk about it and while you never made me feel less or even mention it, I wasnât sure could you ever love me the way I love you because of it.â
After your gentle outburst you saw how Aragorn seemed to be deep in thought. Not sure what he would say, you started to internally panic. Why did you have to confess and make everything strange between the two of you. You cursed your past self who was almost too confident in dying on that battleground.
The sun had finally settled and the sky was now different hues of pink, blue and orange.
âIt didnât even cross my mind that that would be the reason,â the king soon said, taking you off guard.
âIt didnât..?â
At your question Aragorn only shook his head and smiled sadly.
âOf course not. When I saw you the first time I thought you were one of the most beautiful beings I have ever seen. No matter what others said I always saw you as a woman and I still do, thatâs the reason I treated you the same. I always thought of others being ridiculous for saying those things about you, â Aragorn explained. You felt relieved and also blushed when you processed the compliment Aragorn had slipped in his statement.
Soon Aragorn raised his arm and gently brushed your reddened cheek with his fingers before holding it like you had held his back at the remains of the battle.
âYou are magnificent and confident, always keeping your head high and I admire that about you. I was so scared when I found you so near to death that day, I didnât want to lose you because I too have fallen deeply in love with you. I was mad at myself for not saying it before all of it because I was sure that was the last time I would see you,â the man before you confessed. You processed everything he said, the breath you were holding stuck on your throat.
Aragorn loved you. And he loved you as you were.
âWhy didnât you tell me before?â you asked quietly. Almost absent mindedly you leaned on Aragornâs touch as he sighed.
âI didnât want to burden you with the idea of being with a man. The reason I was so surprised to see you today was because I thought you would sail to Valinor,â the king explained and you nodded slowly.
âYes, Lord Elrond and Lady Arwen have asked me to leave with them multiple times but I made my decision a long time ago. I wonât be leaving and now I have an even bigger reason as to not to,â you explained. It had crossed your mind many times. Valinor sounded incredible but something told you that you belonged here in Middle Earth. And you were now for certain that you had found the reason for that and it was standing right in front of you.
The two of you looked at each other, Aragornâs hand still resting on your cheek. It was like from a painting, the sky was blended with different colours and stars were already appearing one by one. The petals from the tree were covering the ground and framing the two newfound lovers.
Aragorn did indeed hold your heart in his arms but it was in a tender and loving way. He would make sure to never damage it or let it be broken and you were sure of it.
All your past worries were gone as there was nothing more than just you and Aragorn standing in front of each other as the music and delighted laughter could be heard from inside the castle.
Soon someone came outside and broke the moment.
âMy king, there are people asking for you!â they said. They went slightly uneasy when they noticed the interruption they had causedbut they were soon dismissed by Aragorn who thanked them for being informed.
âShould we go inside?â you asked while looking at the person who hurried back inside. Aragorn only stared at you for a brief moment taking in all of your beauty before answering.
âYes, but there is something I wish to do before that,â he said and before you could ask what it was, he softly turned your head towards him closing the gap between the two of you by brushing his lips against yours. After the mild moment of surprise you closed your eyes and kissed back, the tickling of Aragornâs ungroomed beard making you smile lightly. Aragorn put his left arm around your waist, pulling you closer to his armoured chest.
It was tender and slow. The feeling reminded you of those fairytales you used to read as a child when the princess finally got her prince. You never thought you would actually get to live that type of moment yourself but here you were. You wrapped your own hands around him, your right one finding its way in his brown locks.
The kiss lasted for a bit that felt like minutes but probably only lasted for a few seconds. The two of you pulled back and gazed into each other's eyes with adoration. Sighing happily as the two of you stood there for a while in each other's embrace, you rested your head against Aragornâs shoulder and he laid his head on top of yours, his now free hand in your hair, playing with the (h/c) locks.
âI think we should go now before they come back to look for you,â you said and chuckled. Aragorn let out a laugh as well before agreeing and shifting away briefly so that he could rest his other arm on the small of your back.
Little bit hesitant still if you two should go back inside together, the nasty remarks from the past wandering in your mind, you looked at Aragorn who didnât move his hand away.
âIt will be fine, letâs go.â
As you and Aragorn stepped in, it felt like everything stopped. People turned to look at the two of you and you felt like the air was stolen from your lungs. The man beside you noticed your small distress and rubbed your back gently, offering you a smile to which you returned with a nervous one. Soon the silence was cut off by Pippinâs loud cheering.
âDo you see it guys? They are finally together!â
To that some people cheered out, Gimli and the hobbits probably being the loudest in the group. Slightly embarrassed from the full attention being shifted at you, you stepped little closer to Aragorn who chuckled, shaking his head by otherâs reaction. The two of you made your way towards a group that mostly contained your friends as people congratulated the two of you. You examined your group of friends that were throwing pouches of gold at each other.
The light haired elf made his way towards the two of you and offered a wide grin.
âIt seems like the two of you finally had the talk?â Legolas asked amused. You looked at how Pippin and Gimli gave Gandalf a pouch of coins each which the wizard took smugly. Turning your gaze back to the elf you raised your brow.
âYou bet on if we would get together?â you asked to which Legolas grinned even wider before answering.
âNo. We bet on if you two would get together tonight or by the end of the week.â
Aragorn didnât seem anything but amused as he looked at his longtime friend and companion.
âAnd what did you bet on?â the king asked. Before answering the elf effortlessly caught a pouch that was thrown at him by Gimli who was mumbling something incoherent.
âThat you two would get together tonight of course.â
The three of you laughed loudly before starting a small conversation to which Gandalf and others also joined in.
âSo when shall our dear friend become the queen of Gondor?â the wizard asked teasingly, winking at you which made you roll your eyes. The hobbits who had also gathered around seemed interested as well.
âSoon I hope! I love weddings!â Pippin exclaimed, making everyone chuckle.
âDonât we all?â Frodo asked and everyone nodded agreeing with his statement. You smiled at your friends as they chattered around.
âMy king, apologies for interrupting but I asked for your attendance,â a man who was unknown to you said from behind you. Aragorn turned around and gave a nod to the lord. There were a few others with him who looked at you strangely which made you swift awkwardly. Aragorn noticed it as well and wrapped his hand around your waist again.
âI apologise for not making an appearance before, I was enjoying some quality time with the future queen,â he said while looking at you with adoration which made your heart flutter in your chest. The man nodded slowly before continuing to talk about something you didnât pay attention to, too mesmerized by the man who was standing by your side. You knew that with him you never had to be ashamed of yourself as he would always look after you and end those nasty looks and remarks you had suffered for your whole life.
Later that evening Eowyn came up to you seeming very smug.
âI did tell you he was in love with you didnât I?â
You had only rolled your eyes at her comment but couldn't say she was wrong.
