Have you ever thought about what it would be like What if the Haunted Mansion were a hospital or laboratory staffed by doctors, scientists, nurses, attendants, and patients? Alistair would be the son of the facility's owner, Addison Crump. His father was a scientist who began experimenting on Alistair—using him as a test subject—after Alistair's mother died. As an adult, a resentful Alistair killed his father; during the times he was left alone, he had studied dark magic. Years later, Alistair died just as in the original story: the staff rebelled and killed him. He returned to the hospital as a ghost, capturing his killers and subjecting them to the same treatment he had inflicted on victims while alive—specifically, the patients who had mistreated him during his childhood. He would turn his victims into experiments or test subjects; some died, while others went mad. He kept them in cages, causing some to lose their humanity—effectively transforming them into "ghosts"—and even as a ghost himself, Alistair continues this practice. He became a legend at the hospital. Meanwhile, certain mortals working in medical care there could see the ghosts—including Alistair himself. Although Alistair mostly stays in the laboratory, he occasionally passes through the other areas. The hospital dates back to the 19th century, but despite its age, it remains in use and has been renovated to look like a modern facility. When Alistair speaks to the mortal staff, he takes on the appearance he had in life, making him visible to mortal eyes; he does this to appear as nothing more than a normal owner to the patients. The mortal staff members are not Ben, Gabbie, Bruce, Kent, Harriet, or Travis—those characters would instead be patients or other figures, with no initial connection to the hospital.
