favourite ofmd... anything time!

what this blog is about: I have my issues with the show & fandom, but I think it's up to us to make this space a… safe space ship. So send me on anon (or not) your favourite character and why you love them, your favourite dynamic, moment, the funniest moment… anything you want really, as long as it is not negative for any other character or ship! so anyone can enjoy this. or try to!

I love that we have an official dessert, the 40 orange cake, which Samba has given us the recipe for. It sounds delicious! (Even if Stede said it -barely- tasted of oranges. 😅)

I love Ed. I love how unexpectedly sweet and gentle he is. I love how fragile and strong he is at the same time. I love that he's a survivor and we get to see him go through everything that happened to him and still have a future in the end. I hope season 3 has a lot more moments of Ed being loved and happy.

I like Archie. I think she has good vibes—not exactly like the crew but meshes with them well. She fills her own niche, is competent, and is good for dialogue. It really struck me how she has clearly grown up and lived through so much messed up stuff that she just accepts that “that’s how life is.” Eaten by a snake? Recruited into piracy? People in power do whatever they want? Gotta steal moments of happiness where you can? Forced to fight people you care about to the death? Par for the course. Until she ends up with the crew of the Revenge anyway. And the fact that the show just lets her and Jim and Oluwande and Zheng Yi Sao fall into a polyamorous relationship is so good—but that’s another submission, I think. Anyways, loving Archie so far.

I’m so glad they brought Spanish Jackie back and let her get more screen time and be a bamf.

I like how complicated and conflicted Izzy is as a character, but can we talk about the moment when the crew left the upgraded prosthetic leg for him and Izzy clamped a hand over his mouth as he read the letter like he had to stifle a sob? That was a gut punch. I was not expecting such a powerful reaction out of his character. That singular moment is my favorite.

I love this show so, so much. It helped me accept my sexuality and genuinely resurrected my libido after it was dormant for years. Thank you, djenks 😘

I love the cleverness of the title cards! Objects and or locations to give a clue as to what the episode will be about symbolically.

I love how the conflict in this show arises from the characters’ very relatable inability to effectively communicate their feelings. Ed can’t communicate to Izzy that he needs him to stay for emotional reasons, so he makes up this plan to kill Stede and take over his life, then he can’t communicate that he doesn’t actually want to go through with the plan because actually caring about someone isn’t what pirates do, so Izzy thinks he’s helping Ed by trying to kill Stede himself. Then Izzy can’t communicate that he’s feeling replaced by Stede and he thinks that Stede is having a negative effect on Ed, so instead he goes to the drastic length of getting the English involved. Stede can’t communicate that he feels Ed’s going too fast in their relationship so he runs away. Then in season 2 Ed can’t communicate that he needs to leave piracy because he feels like it’s toxic to him so instead he talks about leaving to be a fisherman. There are plenty of other instances but this ask is long enough.

My favorite character is Lucius. I'm obsessed with his vibes in both season 1 and 2, as a stand in for the audience especially. I love how he knows all the drama and how dramatic he is himself. The scene where he uses his middle finger to flip Ed/Stede off gets me cackling every time!

I already liked Leslie Jones as Spanish Jackie in S1 but she was especially great in S2! Jackie is such a cool and fun character and I loved seeing her on screen.
