Havn’t finished reading this all yet but really amazing read for clarifying ideas surrounding gender construction, femininity, essentializing of experience and a coalitional feminist activism. The article examines Judith Butler’s ideas and their relation to Foucauldian and Nitzchean thought. 

Lately I’ve been really in to taking shots of very close up that illustrate ambiguous qualities of the environments elements. This is a close up photograph of snow in Fernie, BC.

Bryan Turner,  “The Body and Society: Explorations in Social Theory” 1983

I’ve been thinking lately about the relationship we have with bodies of water and how there is a strange primordial comfort we seem to experience with it. Also something about fluidity in general....how fluid form and shape seems to be a safe space for unmediated expression of both the physical and spiritual self.

Absolutely mesmerizing piece- Morske Orgulie, or the Sea Organ, by architect Nikola Bašić. Where the waves from the sea crash against the shore of Zadar Croatia, a meditative and harmonic sound is released as the water moves its way up a series of channels that connect to organ pipes, each with its own musical chord. 

“I have been carrying on a dialogue between the landscape and the female body (based on my own silhouette) I am overwhelmed by the feeling of having been cast from the womb (nature). Through my earth/body sculptures I become one with the earth I become an extension of nature and nature becomes an extension of my body”

“Once we have left the waters of the womb, we have to construct a space for ourselves in the air for the rest of our time on earth…To construct and inhabit our airy space is essential. It is the space of bodily autonomy, of free breath, free speech and song, of performing on the stage of life”
