gotham's miserable all the fucking time. winters bite, and summers smother. yeah, technically it's a hardiness zone 6, but flowers just seem to get chewed up and spit out by the city.

can't grow black eye susans, regardless of how suitable the name might be, 'cause there ain't enough sun. can't grow coneflowers, 'cause the soil's always muddy, bogged down with whatever leaks out of a city like that. astilbe sounds suitable at first, but you'd think the earth's salted the way the colors go pale.
