Jason was barely cautious when Ariana came to his rescue. He tried to call out to her, to warn her, to tell her to leave him behind because he isn’t worth it - the bomb was going to kill them. But he couldn’t he was too broken to speak any more then a soft whine. 

When she wrapped her wings around them he shut his eyes, preparing for the worse, tears slipping down his cheeks. She’s going to die with him - why? why didn’t she just run? When the timer hit zero, he felt the fire burn around him and darkness over took his consciousness. 

He woke with a groan, body trembling as he came back to himself. He didn’t expect to be alive, frankly… he thinks. He actually can’t really remember a lot. He looks around, noticing Ariana beside him. But he… still can’t remember much. He shakes her awake, brows furrowed and confused, “Hey. Do you remember… anything?” Anything at all. 

The more he tries to remember, the more he realizes he can’t. It’s scary, frankly. He just - well, he doesn’t even know what he wants to do.

Green eyes flew open and she bolted upright, looking around in a panic. She calmed when she saw Jason there beside her. After the immediate shock wore off, she felt stiff.

Ariana turned to look to Jason and shook her head. “Not much. I...” She closed her eyes and focused on her memories. She could recall only bits and pieces. Her name and that the one with her was Jason. Beyond that, she could recall what she was, but not why the place they were in was familiar.

“Oh, you’re Bruce’s kid,” it’s still weird calling him dad, especially to his soon-to-be-sister. He stared down at her, biting his lip slightly. 

“Jason,” he shrugged slightly, “Bruce is gonna adopt me. So I guess we’ll be siblings soon,” he care cautious as he spoke, trying to judge her reaction. It can either go really well, or really bad. 

He’s hoping well, he really doesn’t need the extra stress of being hated by his future sibling. 

“What’re you reading?”

Ariana nodded and offered the boy a warm smile. “That I am.” So it seemed that this was where the new arrival was hiding out. Not a bad place to be since it was often quiet and few people actually came in here.
