This is a term that comes from when the NRO donated a couple unused spy satellites to NASA. The mirrors are the same size as Hubble’s, but the focal length is shorter. This means the telescopes are shorter than Hubble but they have a much wider field of view. Hence, stubby Hubble. I’m not sure if the term has ever been applied to anything but these spy satellites.
Eventually NASA decided to use one of the mirrors to make a Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST). Which was later dubbed the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. So yes Roman is a stubby hubble. Hope this helps

I have this book about the cosmos from 1988 ('91 for the polish translation) and it has a bunch of spacecraft included in it, and this evening i wanted to share them all with you.

Full two pages dedicated to shuttles! many tiny drawings. For some reason the book calls them "Kosmoplan" (cosmoplane). Please excuse the scribbles. this book was the property of a bunch of unruly kids, including me. They wont go away.
