This conical hairstyle from the 1960s is known as the beehive hairstyle, but it is also referred to as the B-52 hairstyle due to its resemblance to the nose cone of the B-52 Stratofortress. The B-52 was made on the 50s, so this hairstyle came out about a decade later.
Interestingly, the musical group the B-52s was named after this hairstyle. The name “B-52’s” originated from a specific beehive hairdo that resembled the nose cone of the aircraft, which Pierson and Cindy Wilson wore during the band’s initial decade of performances.
