Masquerading Madness

She let in a sharp intake or breath before turning her head ever so slightly towards her lover. Nazo had been sound asleep for the past hour and a half, his breathing soft and slow, and he had an aura surrounding him like that of an early morning fog as the sun just barely peeked over the horizon. 

Anabelle loved every inch of the man, from his soft and springy snow white hair, to his strong and broad shoulders and biceps. Even the deep and menacing scars on his face added to his character and charm, but that did not hold her back from loving him deeply.

She sighed, brushing a stray lock of hair out of his face, taking in all of his gorgeous features as she breathed out a small chuckle that sounded more like a huff. Anabelle brought a hand to one side of his head and she started entangling her fingers in the Darkrai’s locks. His hair was so fluffy and soft that it seemed to contrast with the rest of his “tall, dark, and mysterious” motif.

She stifled a laugh once more, her face now only mere inches from his own. Surprisingly, her loving antics had not even stirred the ghost for a second.

‘I wonder if I could braid it or put it into a ponytail’ The Lampent thought for a moment, shifting her weight on the bed so she could be closer to him. Her hip bones where now currently grinding against Nazo’s while his arms hang loosely off of the sides of her abdomen.

While in a normal situation, she would feel embarrassed before her cheeks would flush a bright vermilion, her attention was too compelled on his hair to focus on the other parts of his body. 

“........mio......angelo.....” (my angel)

Anabelle rose a brow and froze in place.

Was he...?

Sleep talking...?

The lady listened intently for any other kind of words to announce from his unconscious form. 

After a few moments of silence, Nazo’s sleeping silhouette spoke again. This time, in full sentences. 

“La sua bellezza porta via il mio fiato, il mio amore...” (Your beauty takes my breath away, my love.)

“Posso fissare i tuoi bellissimi occhi per sempre...” (I can gaze into your beautiful eyes forever.)

The Lampent felt a knot begin to form in the pit of her stomach. Was Nazo having dreams about his past lovers? She felt sick for acting like this and assuming the worst. But....what if?

Nazo spoke once again after another set of snores escaped his mouth.

“Non voglio perderti.” (I don't want to lose you.)

She looked back to him for a moment to see his cheeks were stained with short tears trickling down his face

“Anabelle....Cara mia, ti voglio bene.” (Anabelle....My darling, I love you.)

The girl could not move. 

Her heart skipped a beat before her face blew up in a red flurry or embarrassment. He was talking about her! She honestly should’ve guessed as he was sleep speaking in her native tongue. Anabelle didn’t know what to say. Tears started rolling down her cheeks as she sat up in the bed to stop herself from sobbing. 

It was her!

She was the one he was dreaming about! Anabelle wanted to thank him from the bottom of her heart. So as she lay beside him, the female moved closer to give her partner a loving peck on the lips

When suddenly

BRING BRING

Anabelle nearly had a heart attack and died a second time because she was so startled! 

‘It was just the phone! Thank goodness...! I don’t think my heart can handle much more of this...’ she thought, attempting to catch her breath After calming herself down and shifting slightly under the duvet, the darkrai who shared the same bed grumbled before snatching his phone from the nightstand on his side of the bed. Anabelle mimicked being asleep or in a really unusual coma, so as to fool Nazo into thinking she was unconscious. 

Nazo cursed under his breath, closing the calling icon of Yukiteru he set on his phone. The bed felt like a ripple went through as Nazo began to get dressed.

The darkrai was about to leave for something important before stopping directly in his tracks and turning around swiftly to place a slow, chaste kiss on her dimples.

“I’ll be back soon, cara mia. I promise.” his voice was low and hoarse, making Anabelle all the more flustered.

Just as he was about to leave, Anabelle shifted around in order to wrap her arms around his pale neck, leading him to a slow and passionate kiss shared between the two ghosts.

“Questa è una promessa...” (That’s a promise...)
