I have for a long time been really frustrated with network-manager on my laptops, as it takes quite a while for it to connect to wireless after the laptop have been to sleep etc.

Today I was stuck with a Windows 7 computer and Live Messenger (Microsoft’s own little IM client). I was trying to send a zip file, but it would not allow me to do it unless I installed a virus scanner and configured the client to scan the files with it, something I thought was stupid as the computer had a pretty good Antivirus installed, and the fact that I just wanted to send a zip file with some jpg files. After a tip from Ph0b1uS I learned that the function is really stupid, and a college to him had written a small “Antivirus utility” for his work computer, small little program that just returns 0 when run, and the client was happy with that. My first try looked something like this: (A small standard C# cli app)

If you are running ArchLinux you might notice that Eclipse is currently broken, this is apperntly due to changes in the Mozilla Web Engine that is used by default.

You will notice this by chrashes occuring when you are trying to use the autocomplete function, the help function etc.

First we will need to install a library called libwebkit from extra:

sudo pacman -S extra/libwebkit

Then we will need to create a symlink to a file that does not exist by running:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libwebkitgtk-1.0.so /usr/lib/libwebkit-1.0.so.2

Now we we only need to edit eclipse.ini located in /usr/share/ecplipse and add a new line to the bottom (make sure that it is the last line):

-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.UseWebKitGTK=true

As I have started to get engadged in more and more things I feel it's time to start writing about them, and I felt it was time to restart with a new blog with a new direction.

Hopefully you will soon find posts and toughts about many things here, like kernel hacking, QT, c++, Haskell and other programming related stuff. This will also be a showcase for some of my hardware hacks and tricks.
