What is End Hep C SF and how does it work? End Hep C SF partners describe the synergistic foundation of End Hep C SF, and how members contribute their expertise in various ways to move San Francisco closer to realizing the vision of a San Francisco with hepatitis C (HCV) is no longer a public health threat, and HCV-related inequalities have been eliminated.

NFL star, Mike Daniels, has been elected to the Pro Bowl two years in a row and leads the Green Bay Packers as Defensive End. Still, Daniels ranks his identity as an anime fan above his storied accomplishments as a professional athlete. He Was Anime is an incredible story of how the world of anime propelled Daniels from his childhood as a bullied, skinny kid to one of the most formidable players in the NFL.Â

At Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, patients get world-class compassionate care, and experts are innovating to help patients navigate a complicated system. Transgender, transsexual, and gender non-conforming people face inordinate barriers to quality health care and wellness services. Already beset by stigma and discrimination, transgender patients must also navigate a health care system still developing protocols to be responsive and compassionate with transgender healthcare needs. Learn how Gender Health SF patient navigator Karen Aguilar's peer-based approach is setting a standard that will dramatically improve care for people nationally. The reach of Karen's work goes far beyond San Francisco, with Gender Health SF serving as a model for clinics across the country. We are proud to recognize Karen as a 2018 Hero.
Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center has long been a pioneer in HIV/AIDs care and has been at the forefront of “Getting to Zero” by 2020: zero deaths, zero infections, and zero stigma. Stigma is the lesser understood of these goals. While preventing deaths and infections are largely supported by medical interventions, education and outreach is front and center for eliminating prejudice and discrimination against people living with HIV and the communities disproportionately impacted by the disease. Overcoming stigma can be the difference between life and death. Learn how HIVE communications and social justice coordinator Caroline Watson set out to change the way HIVE empowered people living with or affected by HIV to reshape the narrative for HIV prevention. Caroline’s fierce and compassionate commitment to fighting the stigma surrounding HIV has been a gift to HIV patients here and around the world, and significantly, has been a key driver of “getting to zero” HIV in our community. We are proud to recognize Caroline as a 2018 Hero.

RIP Mayor Lee - you’ll be missed.Â
Umunhum sweeps you off your feet and places you on top of a mountain that was not accessible to the public for over 60 years. The mountain is Mt Umunhum which stands 3,486 feet tall between San Jose, California and the Pacific Ocean. To restore the top of Mt Umunhum and open it to the public, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District collaborated with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band with an open mind and open arms. The results of this collaboration are deeply meaningful for those involved, and they are visually stunning for anyone who visits the peak of Mt Umunhum. This film will inspire you to think about the land under you and how you can contribute to its restoration and healing.
Mt Umunhum (pronounced um-un-um) is located in the 18,000 acre Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. For thousands of years the Amah Mutsun people lived and prayed on this mountain. In the 1950s, the United States government built the Almaden Air Force Station on the top of Mt Umunhum, an early warning radar station that operated from 1957 to 1980. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District purchased the site from the military in 1986. The District partnered closely with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band on the significant and necessary restoration of this mountain top. Mt Umunhum opened to the public on September 18, 2017.
