Lil fanart of the awesome comic Plume @plumecomic Done for #FANbruary but really I’ve been meaning to fanart this series for a while. It’s my favorite because I just love the characters so much!! Also a fantasy Western is just A+

I had never even heard of this comic until today. I saw this at comicon and was immediately drawn to the artwork and after talking to the author for less than a minute I was already convinced this was going to be one of my new favorites. And well, I just finished it and I’m sad to say I didn’t buy the other two volumes while I was there. Without any real spoilers, the story is about Vesper Grey, the daughter of an archaeologist and her guardian angel-like companion, Corrick and these artifacts that give the wielder special gifts. Not too much just since I only have the first volume but I LOVE the way K. Lynn Smith draws Corrick, all his expressions are hilarious. There’s humor right off the bat but isn’t forced. I’ll definitely be getting the next two volumes.

i wasn’t really expecting this to get as much response as it did on twitter but it seemed like people found it helpful so!! here you go! some friends were asking about perspective so i drew up something real simplified on the basics of how i usually set up my perspective/bgs !!

I first read Plume during my last year of college, when I was trying to figure out what to do for my senior thesis. Plume wasn’t the first webcomic I’d read, but it got me thinking about how awesome they are, and that maybe I wanted to make one too. It wasn’t until several months later that I started making what would become chapter 1 of Heroic Shenanigans for my thesis, but I think reading Plume helped plant that comic seed! And I am super grateful to Plume for that :)

In which, the thing happens. Also: A big congratulations and thank you to K. Lynn Smith, the creator of Plume. She completed the comic this week, and it’s beautiful. I may have teared up while I recorded those last pages yesterday.
