Muse A works as a university tech help person, fielding calls from other students and professors about their computer problems (many of which can be solved by asking "Is it plugged in/charged?" or "Have you tried turning it off and restarting it?"). Muse B is an unlucky student whose computer keeps screwing up, and through serendipity, their calls keep being picked up by Muse B (who is either the best and worst tech support employee, best because they’re highly skilled and worst because their customer service sucks.) However, Muse B becomes enamored with Muse A starts timing their calls for when they think the others working and they start a friendly flirtation and develop a mutual crush.

Muse A and B had a falling out a year ago, (for whatever reason), Muse A lives on the opposite end of the country as Muse B. Both begin to find themselves getting insane migraines, these migraines seem to let up whenever they have to travel across the country for business and be near each other. No doctor can figure out what is wrong with them, physically they’re fine. The doctor suggests it’s just stress and Muse A decides to take a vacation but as soon as they begin to leave the country the headache becomes unbearable and the plane has to make an emergency landing. Across the country, at the same time, Muse B collapses from a sudden splitting headache. Their connected friends are stunned by the coincidence and insist that they see each other. As soon as they do the headache goes away but whenever the other leaves the room the headache becomes unbearable. Muse A is forced to stay with Muse B because of this despite the fact that they can’t stand each other and there are still hurt feelings between them both. The muses can be exes, former best friends, former co-workers, unrequited loves, whatever.

After Muse A’s parents divorced, they moved away and spent all their time with one parent. Years late the summer before Muse A goes to college, they decide to spend it with their estranged parent. However their estranged parent works most of the time, so Muse A spends most of the summer trying to woo the frowny boy next door, Muse B. They run into them at a coffee shop and during one crowded day share the same table, after that they become friends bonding over being bored the summer before college as well as apparently attending the same university in the fall. Lots of side glances and cuddles ensue. 

Both muses are sent to a summer camp by their parents the summer before college (cause lets all stop pretending like we’re liberated from doing what our parents want when we turn eighteen). Muse A is trying to make the best of it, Muse B is determined to not be roped into any of these bullshit camp activities. Muse A, however, keeps trying to get Muse B to participate, and it may have something to do with the act that Muse A has developed a soul-eating crush on Muse B from the moment they set eyes on them despite Muse B being a huge asshole. Muse A cares about what people think of them, Muse B couldn’t care less and is honestly getting pretty tired of Muse A always apologizing for being who they are. Muse B knows full well about Muse A’s crush on them but mostly just ignores it but they can only ignore the puppy dog eyes for so long and eventually give into participating in some activities just so Muse A will stop talking. Muse B eventually reciprocates Muse A’s feelings because Muse A just doesn’t quit and they’re really cute, but that doesn’t change the fact that Muse B really doesn’t want to be there and is an asshole, so hurt feelings and angst are always on the table.
