I’ve been rewatching the original Star Trek movies for reasons, and somehow I don’t think I ever really put it together that Kirk stole the Enterprise and ruined his career with no expectation at all that he was going to get Spock back. The whole plan was to get Spock’s body and bring it and McCoy to Mount Seleya to do whatever Vulcan mystic funeral they need to do to preserve his katra; they didn’t know about Spock’s body being regenerated until they got to Genesis.

The funny thing about TOS Spirk is that a lot of people write Spock as this pure innocent guy that bad boy Jim Kirk ends up corrupting. But like…in reality, Spock is more of the bad boy. Let’s look at the facts.

Spock’s the kind of Vulcan dude who has the next thirty years of his life planned out in a color coded Excel spreadsheet and then. Jim comes into his life. And Spock calls Amanda and Sarek like “esteemed parents…. you won’t believe this but…he just DOES things…he doesn’t even think about them before he does them, this morning Jim saw a dog half a mile up the street and we were twenty minutes late to a meeting with the admiralty because he kept insisting that I give the ‘good boy’ a pat on the head. And also his smile is like sunlight and I can’t say no to him. Why is he like this”
