While we’re talking about talking shit, here’s a PSA for any of you uninformed folks:

Don’t fucking do it.

Here’s the thing you may or may not know: some people might be brand new to the game. Others might be trying out a new build for the first time (and even if they have a godly PvP rank, that doesn’t suddenly reset for their new builds so they can practise, they still play against people generally around the same rank.) Some people might just be in a party doing something with their friends trying PvP for the first time ever.

Beyond that, some people will also never touch PvP again the second you trash talk them, because it only takes on stranger to talk shit to set off a chain of anxiety that at best leaves them paranoid and disliking PvP and at worst, makes them drop GW2 almost completely.

There’s a reason I never play League of Legends any more; as somebody with anxiety issues that I really can’t help, I would be consistently paranoid of getting shit talked by teammates I didn’t know. I would be stressed for the entire game because “am I playing this right what if I am letting my team down oh my god.” That same anxiety kept me from ever touching GW2 PvP for a very, very long time.

And it took a lot of genuine hard work for me to feel comfortable enough to do PvP - and even now I can’t PvP solo. I hate PvPing solo, I need at least one friend with me so I feel comfortable enough to do it. (Though as soon as I have that one friend with me, I am more than happy to play.)

So don’t talk shit. I don’t care if you’re the equivalent second coming of Jesus on the class you play as in PvP, don’t talk shit. Don’t be an asshole, don’t be a dick, just keep your shitty nasty-ass comments to yourself because it’s a guarantee nobody else finds them funny and nobody else wants to hear them. It also means you don’t risk looking as stupid as fuck like the guy in my last post did, who felt he could call me shit in /say for everybody on both teams to see because “lol haha r u dumb or sumfin” and then he got fucking destroyed by me for the rest of the match when he came across me - save for the end of the match where he came along and abandoned a point for the sole purpose of joining a team mate of his to kill me (which would have been coincidence, except he abandoned a point to do it and I was already well on the way to losing, which tells me he just did it because he felt like a jaded asshole and was ever so bitter that I stomped him so summarily for most of the match after our first incident.)
