a group of mall workers, all connected to a disappearing girl, must come together to figure out what happened to her. but when monsters start emerging from the mall, they'll have to stay on their toes to survive. playtolose is a small discord group set in fairvalley, ohio in 2013. we utilize tabletop game elements such as dice rolls and polls to make our game more interesting.

the town of fairvalley was rocked by the disappearance of eloise jones. a local staple, she was there one day and gone the next. the last people to have seen her, her fellow mall employees, all gave testimonies detailing her last day. she came in at her regular time, interacted with the local kids who went to go get ice cream, and went to the arcade after her shift, like she did every day.
only this time, she didn’t come home. after calling everyone she could possibly think of, yushu jones sat down at her kitchen table, and called the police. chief morrison was there within thirty minutes. the elitist watched on with shock and fear as they tried to absolve themselves of any guilt. Â
her last known location was fairvalley mall. the day after she went missing, mayor huxley ordered search parties to conduct sweeps of the mall. all searches came up practically empty. one volunteer decides to search the arcade, and finds an upside-down strawberry ice cream cone in front of knight falls. her favorite flavor, and her favorite game. no one notices the scarlet scale nearby, it seems to blend in with the outrageous carpet. mrs. jones talks with mayor huxley, orders the mall to be shut down while an investigation is ongoing. someone asks about the cameras in the mall that night. somehow, they turned off shortly after elsie entered the arcade, and clicked back on once she was gone.
six months later, there’s still no sign of elsie. yushu still believes someone stole her daughter away that night, and dotes on the elitist. mayor huxley’s called for a reopening of the mall, the town can’t keep it closed forever. managers call the employees back to work, and things become almost normal. but nothing’s ever truly normal in fairvalley, is it? the pitching machine still fires at random, the mannequins in the stores still follow you with their heads. there’s a new worker, too. the theorist comes into the mall to disrupt the peace. and they’re bringing everyone along for the ride.

in character, the date is september 3rd, 2013. it’s the first day of reopening at fairvalley mall. the mallrats are free to go around the mall as they please, but there’s an imaginary fog lingering over everything.
